first rolfing session breathing

Posted by Rob on August 30, 2003 at 06:36:55:

Hi.

I've had problems with my breathing on and off for a few years and the last six months i've had problems almost every day. Seems like i can't get enough air into my lungs. Anyway, I booked an apointment with a rolfer here in Sweden and had my first session a few days ago. The rolfer worked alot with my breathing and she could see that my chest wasn't expanding as it should. The session was quite painful, even had a few bruises the day after, but it was a good pain. The first days i couldn't feel any difference, but now a few days after i'm feeling much better. My breathing is different and i can feel my chest expanding when i breath. I feel so happy. My sleep has improved alot also. Of course I will keep doing my SR twice aday. I prefer progressive relaxation. I just wanted people to know, that this is a good way to get quick relief. I can't wait until my next appointment. Thanks Walt for recomending rolfing. Bye bye.

Rob, thanks for the encouraging post. The medical profession never reveals this to their patients about rolfing and trigger point therapy so it is helpful to hear it from someone who has seen results. So have I.

Rob,

So glad you've had such dramatic benefits from your first Rolfing session! I have had similar improvements in my ability to breathe. I have to constantly remind myself that I CAN breathe deeply now, and that I should. Be sure to keep that up to make sure your tissues don't return to the old habits and start to restrict your breathing again. My Rolfer told me to breathe into the tightest areas to keep them flexible.

Wishing you the best for your next session. Keep us posted on your progress.
