I have been dealing with rosecea for 9 years. My symptoms are redness and constant skin peeling between the eyes, forhead and cheeks. I was not getting any results from Metrogel and have not used it for 2 years and have only been using vitamin E oil and lotions to control flaking.
My question is, I have a friend who has been using Westcort cream for her rosecea (Dr. prescribed), I tried it with great results and had no flare-ups for several days. I keep reading that this product should not be used to treat rosecea but no information as to why. Is it safe to use this product?

Hi Whaler, by any chance do you wear glasses? I have had Rosecea for 4 years now on both my cheeks right around where my glasses are. Before I got my glasses I hardly had any redness. Went and got contacts to see if my face clears up. I have used 3 or 4 different cremes for rosecea. I also changed diet, detoxed, worked on LGS and Candida........my rosecea is still red.

my skin gets flaky at times but no redness. Usually
borax in water or cayenne pepper in salt water fixes
it for a long while. I would try the borax first
since thet would be easier on the skin.

Barb,
I dont wear glasses but work outdoors, mostly in the water, so I do wear sunglasses most of the day. I havent found any evidence that suggests glasses are a problem.
What cremes have you used?

Hi, I just noticed your post. In my understanding, steroid cream worsens the condition in a long run. It is also said that prolonged use of it causes a permanent damage to the skin.
Rosecea is caused by your INTERNAL condition, therefore treating it externally is not going to cure it. You need to look into what is happening INSIDE your body. Fortunatelly there is tons of information in the archive page about what you can do about it. Look under "Leaky Gut Sydrome (LGS)" or "Candida Related Syndrome (C-RS)"
I trust Rosecea is a curable condition, as I am a living evidence of the validity of the information provided on this board. Imagine your having normal skin about this time next year... Good luck.
