steatocystoma multiplex

Hi i am a twenty nine year old woman. I have had tiny cysts all over my body since i was about twelve. I was diagnosed with steatocystoma multiplex about two years ago. I read about EFAs on your board about a year ago. Unfortunately they didn't help, i decided to try and get them surgically removed. My doctor said that i had too many too seriously think about getting them removed though. Is this true, is there any cosmetic surgery such as laser surgery i could have. And would i be able to remove them all, i have many maybe a hundred or so.

any help would be greatly appreciated
Jo

Hi, Jo.

I never said that the EFAs would get rid of the cysts already present. They will only prevent new ones and then only after about 6 months if it is going to work for that person. It can take years to figure out the correct maintenance dose.

I think that any surgeon would balk at removing then BECAUSE someone with this condition would just make more. If you could show that you had been able to prevent new ones for at least a year, I believe any skilled dermatologist could remove the ones you already had with a laser.

Let us know how you do.

Walt
