Hi Dr. Stoll,
Just came back from an office visit with a surgeon regarding my pilonidal sinus. His procedure for removal would be to inject the area with a blue dye (better identification of the affected sinus) and use a laser to excise it. He prefers this method over the traditional scalpel and says that the rate of recurrence is lower. Additionally, he plans to leave the area open to heal. I searched the web for the laser technique but couldn't find any info. What is your opinion of this technique? If any readers have heard of or experienced this, your input would be appreciated!
Thanks......looking forward to putting this BEHIND me. Yuk, yuk...

Hi, Andrew.
At least you still have your sense of humor!
The injection of dye IS helpful and all surgeons should do it. However that only shows up the nidi that are connected to the primary and not necessarily all that may be present.
