pilonidal cyst

hey,
I have had a pilonidal cyst for about a year now. It first came up as a pimple, similar to an ingrown hair. It popped and drained for a few days and drained off and on through out the year, but not enough to make me concerned about. Until about 4 weeks ago when I broke my arm at a rodeo and it was draining more than usual, about like it did when it first popped. I went to the doc about and found out what it was. He gave me a prescribtion for some antibiotics and told me to soak in empson salt twice a day. I have read serveal post on the cyst and was wondering if there was another solution to stop the draining or decrease it. The empson salt has helped alot and dries it up for a few hours. I havent been experincing pain, fever, or any of the other symptoms, except for draining. I am looking for a better way to dry it up or something to go along w/ the empson salt.

Hi, WJ.

What do you do in the rodeo?

What have you learned from the pilonidal archives?

Walt

yes i have learned alot from the boards and archives, thanks. My cyst dried up the day after I made the post. I ride bulls and prolly will be riding bareback horses after my arm gets built back up. The competetion in the bares havent been as fierce as it has been in the bull riding, figure I'll have more of a chance of pickin up a check.

Thanks,WJ.

Unfortunately you have picked the very worst profession possible for someone with a pilonidal problem. Until you can give that up I see nothing that will help you prevent flareups and no surgeon in his right mind would do definitive surgery on this without your promise you were giving it up.

There are still helpful suggestions in the archives about how you can best survive flareups.

Let us know what you learn.

Walt
