Hi,
I have had quite bad steatocystoma multiplex and acne for about three years now. I have read the information about it in the archives and know that EFAs can have a good effect on this condition. I was just wondering what actually causes it? What causes the numerous cysts to form? I was reading somewhere on the internet it has something to do with the intestines. Is this true? Can diet contribute?
Thanks for any help

Hi, Jo.
This genetic condition is multifactorial in etiology. The fact that it did not show up until relatively recently proves that there are things that you will be able to do to reverse it.
So far as is what is known already: The genetic problem is that that individual needs a LOT more of the EFAs, for keeping the sebum runny, than the average person. The chances are that there are many other places where metabolism will be improved by the same process that will help your skin.
Eventually, you may even come to bless the SM for warning you. Let us know how you are doing in about 6-12 months for possible additional suggestions.
Let us know how you do.
Walt
