Dr Stoll,
I have pain in my lower back since 1 year, sometimes at the end of vertebral column which is tail bone I can feel some swelling which comes and go. I didnt take any medicine for it, in July-Aug 2003 I went to see Chiripractor, this didnt help. One day(1Sep 2003) I saw some blood and pus in my underpants. I went to see my PCP and he told me that could be some bacterial infection and for that he gave me some antibiotics, he also noticed two small apertures near the tail bone. He said that due to bacterial infection you had some drainage through these holes apertures or I dont know what to say. He also said that he has never seen such holes before. He took X Ray's also and after looking at them he said Xrays are normal, and if you feel back pain again then go and see some orthopedics. I consulted another doctor for it and he said you dont have to go and see Orthopedics and gave me some muscular spasm medicine and pain relievers, he also gave couple of back exercises which I do. Two days ago I was cleaning my back portion with toilet tissue and putting tissue over small holes saw some drop which was not even a drop. I cocsulted my doctor again and he said that you may have pilinodial cyst and need to see general surgeon. I am little scared, could you please advice me what to do.
Thanks

condition its unbelieveable. Go to PILONIDAL.ORG and learn all about it -I believe there are chat rooms there too so you can talk with people about the experiences.

Hi, Tushar.
In my opinion you need to find a lot better docs. Any doc who even heard what you have in this note would know, without reservation, that this is a pilonidal problem. You had to see 3 different docs before your original PCP even thought of the diagnosis and then all he had to suggest was major surgery.
The pilonidal archives will give you what you need to live with this--and your statistical chances with major surgery.
Let us know what you learn.

My 15 year old son is dealing with the same problem take Rachel's advice and check pilonidal.org. Lots of good info there, and many succuss stories. Also see the surgeon, but do your homework. Pilonadal cyst can do a great deal of tissue damage. The surgery is frightening, they will tell you they want to excise the tissue, but the damage that can occur from a draining cyst is even more frightening.
Good luck.
