I looked through your replies to cysts and actually never knew that some poor sods could get them on their butt.
I have had TWO continuous draining cysts on my ears for my entire life. One on each ear. They are old and deep right at the flat area where the mid lobe connects to the face/scalp. They can be from barely noticeable at times to being large lumps filled with smelly pus. Sometimes the pus is liquid and sometimes it is more congealed. I dont notice pains much anymore but there are times that they seem to get irritatingly infected.. i have had them for so long it just becomes a way of life. From what i have been told they actually are ducts that excrete while we are still in the womb. For some of us unlucky ones.. it doesnt stop.
For those that complain of the symptoms i dont have much sympathy considering i have had 37 years Vs your 1-5 etc. Ive had my ears draining all this time.. they constantly produce this smell that as one person wrote Ranks rancid enough to be on fEAR factor!(think of rotting fish)
Some advice from a tired soul.. to reduce the production of smelly oils which is virtually impossible as a whole in my case. Reduction in diet is the most drastic even though ive found that they seem to become more irritated and red at this point.. much like your stomach growls when you dont feed it.
Garlic or alcohol will cut the oils and actually seem or appear to increase the oils.. my take is that the oils are just being thinned. A very interesting observation which i noticed many years before such things became trendy as munching on garlic.
Washing the surrounding skin area with a harsh soap such as Ivory which decreases and cleans the oil on the exterior of your skin will allow for oils that may have headed to the cyst to escape and may actually help decrease the size to some degree. Dont do this to an already opened cyst area as you will only irritate it and make it red!
Any intake of high oils, butters etc will send cyst production or oil levels over the top.. so you eat at your own risk! It has only made me realize that we are putting a lot of garbage into our systems based on poor teaching over the years. Even i havent learned to completely cut back... even i find tofu can really suck at times! I have just learned to live with them as best as possible. Not to say I/we have to.
I read one article by someone who said that they noticed a change when they ate red meat.. well go figure.. did you like the fat on the steak.. guess where its going!
I am going to see a skin doc soon since i have just found what appears to be my first instance of a pre-cancerous lesion possibly Actinic Keratosis(or something like that on my nose).. so i will ask if it is possible at all to have my cysts removed.

Hi, Bill.
Sounds like "brachial cleft cysts" to me---a congenital condition. See a competent head and neck surgeon for a diagnosis and let us know what you learn.
