Hi. I am 28 and had a pilinoidal cyst diagnosed about 5 years ago. In the beginning, the occurances were rare-only flaring up every couple of years. The last two years have been a nightmare. It was continuously aggravated and would always be in a state of either rupturing or waiting for the sweet release of rupturing. Seven months ago, I had surgery to excise the cyst which was 7 inches long, 3 inches wide, and 3 inches deep-HUGE. The doctor stated he removed all of the surrounding tissues and was hopeful. Seven months later, it is back and I am devastated. The cyst is much smaller and is now located at the bottom of my scar. (Scar is a 7 inch vertical line along inside of left cheek, near crack) It just reappeared two days ago and has already ruptured. Please provide me with any suggestions that you may have. Is this going to be a lifetime of surgeries? Do the herbal remedies really work and how can I get them? Thanks so much. I will anxiously await your response. Please help!

Hi, Laura.
Start with the pilonidal archives and let us know what you learn. Many of your options have passed by since you have already had definitive surgery. What you had done MAY have been the right thing at the time (about 50% chance of cure) but you may have chosen to look for more facts, first, if the surgeon had been up front with you about those odds.
