Dr Stoll helped me 6 years ago - Pilonidal Cyst

I was diagnosed with a pilonidal cyst back in 2001 after numerous Dr visits. I was 21 at the time, and was in such excrutiating pain, I had to take a leave of absense from work. My PCP prescribed vicodin for the pain, which dulled it, but didn't take it away. Nothing worked, and I spent months on strong antiobiotics. At one point, my cyst burst at home, and I about passed out from the pain. At that point, I was referred to a surgeon, who wanted to perform surgery ASAP. I was reluctant to go that direction, and decided to do my homework. My mom came across this site, which provided me with an outlet, hope, and the knowledge of taking the problem into my own hands. At times I felt powerless, which is very common with healthcare, unfortunately. I immediately tried the hot compress therapy that I heard about on this site, and it actually worked. It did take some time, but eventually the cyst went away. I have not a reoccurance since then, until April 2007, where I began to feel it coming back. I have since then resumed the compresses, and have fortunately held it at bay. I just wanted to post my story, as I know what it is like to live with this horrible problem. It's humiliating, painful, and at times very worrisome and confusing. Thanks to this site, for posting advice and giving a forum for individuals who unfortunately share this condition. Thank you to Dr Stoll, for your honest advice and treatment recommendations - you have helped my situation incredibly, and I hope for that to continue.
