Since using a zinc cream on my scalp after washing my hair, my scalp is no longer dry, itchy or flaky. My hair is now shiny, glossy and healthy looking. It doesnt have that frizzy look. Even my natural curls have returned.
When I was in dire straits with my scalp condition and it was driving me literally insane with the itching, the only thing that relieved it was a cream containing zinc. Only problem was the cream was thick and turned my hair white. Not a good look!
The cream I am using is a lot thinner and doesnt turn my hair white. It has 0.1% zinc in it.
I am just hoping that my scalp doesnt "acclimatise" to it and then I have to find another solution. Been using it now for two weeks and it is working. No itching, no redness, no flaking or dryness of the scalp. It's like I have a normal scalp again.

Try applying undiluted vinegar to the scalp every night. It's a wonderful tonic!

Hi Sadie,
have you tried the EFS or tried taking a fish oil?
Just a post I read. I take omega 3 6 9, my scalp is alittle better. The fish oil gave me dirreah.
Where did you find a zinc creme?
AND, also have you tried the shampoo Zincon?

I have had very good results with the flax oil protocol described on this website. The dry flakiness is nearly gone.

MC,
I was advised by a nurse a few weeks ago to rinse my hair after shampooing in order to get rid of dandruff and problems with the scalp as well. Nope, I haven't tried it yet.

I have very bad problem with my scalp I have big big flakes that come out my hair and if I get over heated (living down here in Texas that is quite often.) I get large sores on my head just in the back (I wash my hair everyday sometimes twice a day.) it begins to itch when I get overheated. I got on the maximum dose of multiple B and it cleared right up. But everybody is different The problem that caused mine might not be the same as yours. I do have very frizzy hair with a lot of body. But they say that comes from being anemic and hypothyroid.

The brand I am using is not available in the States. Its called Anti-dandruff hair cream brylcream. It is not a gel. You rub it directly into your scalp and so far I have had absolutely no relapses.
I am sure any zinc cream would do the trick though. This one contains pyrithione zinc 0.1%.

I have tried the essential fatty acids. Is that what you meant by EFS? It worked only temporarily and then I was back to square one.
I have tried many different lotions, potions and special shampoos. All with the same response. Works temporarily.
I havent tried fish oils, but interestingly, I have just started taking cod liver oil capsules. The zinc cream has done wonders for my scalp. I am truly hoping this will be the "cure". We shall see. I have played this game before. A bit like deja vu.LOL.

The flax oil helped, but only temporarily. ;(

I, too, had the same problem. Large flakes on scalp. I found that even after washing my hair, they would appear on my scalp before my hair was even dry. Very discouraging. They tended to stick to my scalp though. They werent loose like regular dandruff.
I have found with the zinc cream that there is no excess shedding of the scalp. Its like my scalp can breathe and the natural oils are no longer blocked and can lubricate the hair shaft. Thats why my hair is looking so healthy. The flakes were blocking the natural scalp oils from secreting onto the hair, thus I would end up with dry, frizzy hair.
Will update in a month or so to let you all know if my "cure" is still a cure.

Thanks, Sadie!
New to me. I would be interested in anyone else with this experience sharing it with the BB.

Hi Sadie,
I know exactly what you mean. I think my scalp is better from the OMEGA 3-6-9, but not completely cured. I have also used umpteen shampoos including the la natural, and and find they work only temporarily too. I am going to try the vinegar rinse.
