I understand that a girl is supposed to pee right after sex to avoid infections. However, I notice that 75% of the time it stings to pee.
The stinging is coming the the inner lips (not inside vagina) but it's like the friction of sex makes it swell up and then sting to pee. Other than occasionally feeling too tight, there is no pain during sex.
PS: It is not a lack-of-lubrication issue, because we use extra lube when needed.
Is this normal?

I think it's just irritation...I have had that before...the more frequent the intercourse (or long) the more the urine can seem to sting!

I have the same darn peeing/burning thing! Sometimes worse than others, but almost always!
I also have burning on the top wall of my vagina every time, no matter how much we glop on the lube. It's driving my husband crazy because sex has always hurt during our 3 years of marraige. :(

Me too:
I used to rarely have problems with intercourse until about 2 years ago (while on the pill) I developed a condition which led to reoccuring yeast infections and painful intercourse. Along with painful intercourse, I also had problems with occassiona vulvar "paper cut" like tears, itching and swelling. If you want to learn more about this and get support and have questions answered... you may want to check out yahoo newsgroups: vulvodynia. That newsgroup helped me a lot =)

Hi, Jane (and Jen, Me Too & Michele).
These are micro injuries of the lining of the urethra due to trauma and are related to sexual intercourse positions.
See the Kama Sutra and become experts in foreplay and positions that do not cause this.
Let us know how you do.

Hi Dr. Stoll,
Do you know of any ways to repair these micro-injuries? The only position that doesn't hurt me is missionary, and well, that's just no fun for us after a while. You know...it gets pretty boring! I got a Kama Sutra book, but if there's any way to heal these urethral injuries I'd love to know about it :)
Thank you.

Hi, Me.
Microinjuries like this are automatically healed within about 24 hours. Our bodyminds do a marvelous job with things like this. You have to re-injure yourself each time unless you are having an all night marathon and then those injuries might just take a few days to heal.
You will be able to find positions (Kama Sutra) that will not injure you.
Let us know what you learn.
