For Doctor Stoll and any who may know answer-shingles

Posted by DAC on December 16, 2002 at 13:12:32:

My 85 yr old Father started to drag his leg, he went to a doctor and was diagnosed as a TIA. Then about a week later he got a bad headache on the same side as the leg he was dragging. The headache involved his head, ear, throat and eye. Then he went to the doctor because heis eye got blood red and he broke out. The diagnosis was shingles. All of the symptoms are on the same side and they wondered if it was all connected. (His eye is the worst for him, he cannot read or anything with it, it hurst all the time.)

I have read the archives and a couple of other sites and it seems TIA and shingles somtimes go together. In your opinion is this all connected?

(I told my Mom to get a doctor to give him the IV Vit C and the doctor won't listen to them. They are on Medicare and it is hard to get proper care.) Thank you for any help.

Hi, DAC.

This placement of shingles is frequently fatal to people this age. It truly is amazing that an ignorant doctor will refuse to use harmless IV vitamin C when the risks of depending upon universally worthless (for this condition)conventional treatments can be so dire!

The Forward of my book describes the 1985 JAMA (Journal of the American Medical Association) article [probably the only one that year--if you get your librarian to find it for you] that describes another harmless IV cure. If a physician is going to insist upon limiting himself to allopathic principles only, at least he should do THAT well.

Get a copy of the article and show it to him--I would bet he has never read it! If this were my dad I would drive to the closest medical school library and have the librarian find and copy the article for you. Time is of the essence for your dad.

In MY opinion, his doc is more concerned about his ego than he is for your dad. When this is over your dad would be wise to find a better doc. If this "doc" refuses to implement what the AMA article describes, he needs a better doc right NOW.

Let us know what happens.

Walt

Thank you Doctor Stoll. I will heed your warning and do the best I can without alarming my Mom. I value your judgement. We are all concerned for my Dad, he is so active (until this happened)and has only recently gotten to where he does not climb up on the roof to fix things. I will get the article and send it to them, they live farther away than a day's drive. Now that I realize the seriousness I may just go back there (Florida.)

Thank you again.

Don't they use cayenne (capsacin) cream for
Shingles on the skin ? Maybe taking the
pepper internally would help.

I am currently unable to access this site to see if JAMA is available but the site has free access to many medical journals:

Thank you for your answer and I will check it out ASAP. Have been in contact with my Mom and she is not helpful as to following the advice that goes against the Medicare doctor. I think older people get scared to try things that they never heard of. My Dad seems better, but is miserable. I found out he is only one pain meds. Will update you when I can.
