Hi, Renee.
Since capristatin is an irritant, it is THE VERY WORST THING SHE COULD BE DOING! If she had read the archives she would know that since one of the hallmarks of ALL shingle treatment is to AVOID any stimulus to the area--even including using NO clothing OR at least slippery silk if one has to have clothing.
There is an effective alternative "to toughing it out" in the Forward of my book. I believe the rest of the effective alternatives I know of are in the archives.
Hope this helps.
Walt
