Recently my granddaugther's pediatrician recommended using melatonin for her chronic sleep problems. She wakes 3-4 per night almost every night and is very tired during the day. She has been like this since birth. What is your opinion, Dr. Stoll or anyone else, of this advice? Thanks in advance!

Hi, Sue.
First, I would ask the pediatrician for research reprints about this radical therapy.
Next, I would see a sleep clinic in consultation.
Chances are that this is just a habit but it COULD be as simple as pinworms.
Let us know what you learn.
