Dear Deanne,
Of those participants in a wellness program, as described on the home page of this website, more than 90% had stopped smoking within 6 months without ANYTHING being done to encourage them to do so. They had no idea that their smoking habits were even being monitored, let alone that the wellness might have anything to do with that habit/addiction.
Another study showed that just alkalinizing the urine by taking 750 milligrams of Potassium Bicarbonate along with 750 milligrams of Sodium Bicarbonate (4 times a day) would result in more than 75% or smokers laying down thier cigarettes within 3 months. This study was also done without any of the participants being urged to quit smoking in any way. The participants had no idea why they were taking the alkalinization stuff. They just stopped smoking on their own. The most convenient way to do this is to have the pharmacist make up capsules containing the requisite amount of each & take them 4 times a day on an empty stomach. If the desired effect hasn't happened within 3 months, forget it. If it has, it is smart to keep it up for 3 more months & then taper off.
Let us know what you learn.

Having a smoking section at a restaurant is like having a dedicated peeing section in a pool.
I thought this was too true not to be shared. It was sent by Heather on the Health Education internet forum (HEDIR).

I am a certified hypnotherapist and counselor. I do a
pre-screening interview as I do not accept everyone. I am interested in knowing about those who quite smoking and then went off the ZYBAN. How long did it last?
Hi, I have a sore throat that I believe is related to smoking, I smoke about 2 - 3 packs of generic full strength cigarettes a day, I am trying to quit (can't seem to do it though) along with the sore throat my ears seem blocked (this has happened before) and my glands seem swollen. I started smoking the third pack about 3 months ago when my life seemed unbearably stressfull and I have not felt 'good' since, is there anything I can do about the sore throat until I can quit - I am trying hard to cut back on the amount, but the stress is still here, so it is hard. I have heard that gargling with tea tree oil is good, but is that only when the sore throat is due to a cold or infection?

Dear DarleneG,
You are expereincing your bodymind's "genetic limits".
There is a Bell Curve for each of us as to how much abuse our bodyminds can handle. When we exceed that limit, something breaks down. Unfortunately, just going back to what it would compensate for--before it broke down-- will not get one back to the previous uneasy balance.
This is similar to the "straw that broke the camel's back". Most people do not understand that story either:
If when loading the camel for the caravan, one exceeds what the camel knows (somehow) is more than it can survive carrying the distance, the camel will lie down. Removing that last item (the "straw" that broke the camel's back) will not get the camel up. Every last item on the camel's back (including the harness) muct be removed before the beast will get up. THEN, it will tolerate the entire load being replaced--UP TO THE LAST ITEM--without lying down again.
Our physiological systems are like that. You will likely have to quit completely for about 6 months to "reset" your tolerance level. As you get older, your tolerance level will reset itself (downward) & you will find that your system will tolerate less & less before "breaking down".
I could write a book about the mechanisms you are describing here but this is not the place.
Your system is sending you a message that it is "sick & tired of your abusing it and that is just isn't going to take it any more".
From now on the price will continue to get bigger till you come to your senses. If I knew your age, I could even predict what some of those "prices" are going to be.
I am not "beating around the bush" here since I am assuming that you want straight answers. You are eventually going to have to face this--why not now?
