I am a 32 year old painter that had a traumatic fall off of a step ladder and landed on the pin of a stageon next to my rectum. This resulted in a right perenial laceration >2" on the buttock. This accident happened over 7 years ago. At the time of the accident I had tingling sensations and numbness of my legs for about two months. This gradually went away, however the constant low back pain has never gone away and is now getting much worst. "Nine months"??? after I had this accident I was sent for an MRI scan of the lumbar spine. The report of the MRI was that of a normal scan of the lumbar spine. I have been constantly complaining of my back pain to my family doctor. My family doctor sent for a recent MRI of my lumbar spine. The new findings are "complete lumbarization of s1,with bulging of the disc at the l5-s1 area which minimally encroches upon the left neural foramen". ???. I recently got a copy of my medical records and found that I had an "xray" done of my back nine months after the accident and that report states " there is mild spondylosis deformans at the thoracolumbar junction"???. I have had to stop working in the painting trade because of the physical work. Although I do not walk with a cane or complain of pain shooting down my legs, I would like to ask "With all the medical records stating problems in the exact area I have always felt pain, what does this all mean?" Why can people not understand the level of my pain that I describe at my l5-s1 area. I have done some searches on lumbarization and found out that it is congenital however it can occure through traumatic injuries. Let's consider I am a healthy man at 5'7" 185lbs,no other health problems in the present or the past.I have never complained of any back pain prior to the accident I speak of with medical records that clearly prove that statement. I fell 4' free fall landing on a 2" diameter pin on my rectum before my feet touched the ground. I do not know how to calculate PSI but I sure would like to know "what was the PSI that was exerted upon my vertebrae and the intervertebral discs at the point of landing on that pin?" If there is any one reading this that could help me out with the PSI please respond.

Hi, Ken.
Obviously the docs at the time of the injury missed the ball.
Your best bet right now is to deal with your bracing (see the glossary and archives).
Let us know what you learn and how you do.
