Dr.Stoll, my husband had 3 weeks ago discectomy with fusion; Dr. used cadaver to replace disks between 5/6 and 6/7
Recovery is good so far.
My husband is getting ready to go work on 4/7..yeah..in my opinion too early.
He is a computer programmer.
I would like to ask you for some sugestion on excersises to help his recovery.
I know his profession will not help his recovery very much.
Driving is not a friend either.
I tried to find some info in the archives of your page but no success.
Web is not a big help either.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Regards,

Izabela Matej.

I think they are sending people to work too early after spinal surgery. A fella I know, had some disks removed and rods put in (lower back)...he was sent home the NEXT DAY! He was driving his pickup two days later. After 2 weeks he was back to work...maintenance man.
Still can't believe it.

Hi, Izabella.

The post operative physical therapy, recommended by the surgeon, is essential and is meant to only be teaching sessions. It is meant to be practiced at home at least twice a day!

The surgery is just the first step in the process. Without the PT, the results will be less than desired.

Hope this helps.

Walt
