I am having a spinal cage fusion done on Aug 12th on L-5 I have had 3 other back surgeries since 1987 and hope this one will do it for me. I'm 38 years old and am hoping to go back to work. I also have problem's with the S-1 nerve root and he is going to fix it at the same time.

Dear Rick.
What is going to make this surgery be anything more than just another in a continuing series of surgeries until you are told no more surgery can be done because of accumulating scar tissue?
My suggestion would be for you to spend a few hours on the link below so at least you will have a better idea why this is happening to you & what your other options are.
That is not to say that you should not have the surgery; only that THIS surgery will do no more about your causes than any of the other ones have. You will STILL need this information.
THEN, if you still have questions, write again.
Walt
