cervical spine

Posted by Denise [252.1114] on November 03, 2004 at 21:57:10:

I have been seeing this chiroprator, doing good at first. Than I had to go back to work. Had to see him more often.
this problem started where my whole body could not relax, felt so tight and lots of pressure under ribs and base of head would swell up and things were so tight in neck area I actually looked like my head was tilted to one side all the time. and my bowels would not move thru in transfer area, felt like I had a basketball under ribs and out of breath all the time. I talked to him about this, he said it was just muscle and to have a massage, so I did. nothing improved. I decided to quit going and have been rubbing my neck along the cervical and I feel a relieve of the tension in my body and things are relieving in upper area under ribs. My son sees him too, and is having this tension in his whole body now and he feels so tight in the neck area. Why would this happen? what does the cervical have to do with tension in body and it is like everything is held up? I talked to another chrio that does kineoslogy testing she thinks i am nuts. It is happening and need some answers for this. Someone know please!

I doubt you are both nuts but also doubt the problem is related to your cervical spine or the chiropractor. I would look into the Skilled Relaxation info on this site and start there. I would suspect it is tension problems that are leading to the other symptoms(neck, bowel, ribs, etc..).

I was like this...I needed to see a NUCCA chiropractor that only adjusts the atlas (no other chiro could get my neck to properly adjust) and the key has also been to find someone that is good at myofascial release (mine learned from John Barnes). Those two (in addition to skilled relaxation) have been a lifesaver.

Spine trouble--what worked for me

I had major compression in my spine, to the point that one of my upper vertebrae was poking into my spinal cord. You know what worked? Marijuana!

Now it's like my shoulders are a coat hanger, with everything else dangling comfortably below, and people tell me that I'm taller. Here's the catch. I'm pretty sure that the herbal treatment only worked because of the year or so of skilled relaxation practice. The best part is that once you feel what it means to not be bracing, it's easier to induce it with just SR.
