lumbar and cervical spine problems. One failed surgery

Yes, I am a mess. I am 27 years old, mother of three. 5 years ago, I was in a car accident. Before that day I was fine, now since then I am getting worse. I went to so many doctors, one I actually want to get his license revoked, he did not seem to take me seriously and misread my MRI's and just kept putting me on muscle relaxers, which did not help. Finally I found two great doctors, but it was too late, I couldn't stand up straight or walk, I had severe pain, and they had to do emergency surgery, that was June of 2000. I felt really good afterwards, and now the trouble begins, my neck and back started to hurt really bad, I would drive to work and couldn't get out without gripping the wheel. If I picked up my daughter, I would feel that my bad would break. They did another MRI, and it shows alot of scar tissue and the two discs in the lumbar spine are re-herinated. I am going for my third shot, if it doesn't work, they want to go in and do surgery again. I am on the verge of throwing out my back again, I feel it coming. I can't miss work, or do this to my kids, its been rough. Anyone out there have hope for me, I am so depressed I had childern young to enjoy them and my husband, now I am more of a hinderance to my family than a help.

Hi, Patrice.

Start by reading every word in the archives about spinal problems. THEN, you will be even more angry at the current allopathic monopoly. However, as you say, it is too late for you to waste more time with that. It will, however, give you options that you should have been made aware of in the very beginning AND after your emergency surgery.

Also, your rightous anger will give you energy (channeled appropriately) to do the work that will be necessary for you to dig yourself out of the hole you are in. These options, and understandings, would have helped you prevent what you are going through right now AND, believe you me, this is as good as it gets unless you begin dealing with WHY this is happening to you.

Once you have done the above, go to the archives on bracing and on SR and on rolfing. Also, you could help yourself even more, once the above is started, by going to the library and get6ting some basic reading about Alexander Technique OR Feldenkrais--things you can do at home every day to make everything else work better.

As you get better, I hope you will share your experienhces with the BB since your example will give hope to others with similar problems. We ARE our brother's keeper.

THEN, if you still have questions, write again.

Walt
