Great success with Alternative therapies re: Stenois/Herniations/Impingement - after two laminectomies

Hi, I stumbled onto this terrific site by accident (was reading BB archives regarding C spine/L spine dysfunctions and fusions, etc.
Lots of people in lots of pain still believing in the surgical remedy WHICH is no remedy at all. (I did until after my second lammie 2nd @ L4/5 s/1. )

I got great post surgical pain relief and increased function via chiropractic and mylofascial release. Also worked back into my yoga and Nordic trak regime. (MaCKenzie back program , too)
When my headaches became chronic and I began having sensory problems in my arms and hands, intermittant, my neurologist sent me back in PT (combo chiro/mylofascial) to the neurolsurgeon for a consult and to a pain management physiatrist who practices complementary medicine.
My c spine MRI was scary to look at...sublaxations, real cord impingement, significant deterioration , bulging and a herniation-c3-5. My neurosurgeon who I like alot...felt surgery was imminent if PT did not turn me around quickly.
Mt pain management MD and PT had some great ideas up their sleeves....I am very active and the idea of more post surgical downtime and etc. was not in my thinking. UNLESS there was an emergent need....which there was not.
I continued with PT and began Neural Therapy, Pro-Lo therapy (which basically via a needle creates interior scar tissue to rebuild....lax ligaments (from whiplash...instabillity from hypermobility and bad MVA, trauma, etc.)and joint dysfunction.
As bad as my c spine and to some degree my lumbar spine appears, CLINICALLY, I am in great shape.
I got back from my first 3 mile rollerblade excursion today...! I have episodes of burning in my upper back and headaches...BUT...this continues to diminish with pro-lo therapy. I am on a once per day low dose analgesic and I can't believe how well I'm doing.
I also was evaluated via kinesiology which showed that mercury was contributing to my burning pain. I was treated for that as well.
I have learned that my body STRIVES to find balance and health. Surgery does not HELP the body to create it's own remedy. I will be forever greatful that I had an open minded Neurologist who had success with pro lo herself and shared the GIFT with me.
Saw my neurosurgeon two months ago.....with great suprise he informed me that I am NO longer a candidate for surgery.
I share this story and write at such length because IT is possible to become pain free....or d*** close...IT is possible to create HEALING where there was prior dysfunction.
The most important thing is too toss out any preconceived notions about HOW spinal healing may or may not occur ...AND to not let a vivid image on a MRI scare you into surgery.
I'm in better shape now than I was in my twenties and I'm 45.
If I can answer any questions I am available to help....
my gratitude propells me...
my best to all members of the club none of us wanted to join....(the crummy spine club...;->)
Martha

PS....my doc is now on the web....if you want to read about pro-lo etc. It's at his site....(www) imaginelifewithoutpain .com. He and Drs. like him (like the MD @ this site) are the *real* healers...they tell us the truth and empower REAL healing...(mho)

great to hear about your success with Prolo and be glad
you found it since it isn't That easy and many say that it
Can't work. My mom got lucky 45 yrs ago because my dad
worked with a guy whose wife was a nurse at a big teaching
hospital here in Phila and had heard the great results
that a former orthapedic surgeon at the hospital was having
with some kind of injections so when my dad asked him to
ask his wife for a recomendation for a back Dr for mom she
said that Before she saw anyone to so see this Dr who
had a private practice. I was a teen and remember dad or
us kids making our own food since mom was in bed
for 1 1/2 mo on the recomendation of another Dr to Try to
heal her back but when that didn't help and the pain was SO
bad that mom told dad to find Someone that might help they
got to the prolo Dr. She couldn't get on the exam table so
he put her in the hospital to give her the whole series of
injections which was 16 at the time so he had to knock her
out and in 2 days she was home and Never had back pains
again after having chronic minor ones for 20 yrs previous.

I took a girlfriend who I tried to convince NOT to be
operated on but was and after they screwed up her back she
finally agreed after the surgeon said he had Fixed her
and her pains were all in her head and she was crazy
because she was Livid as much as she could be when her
pains came back Much worse and her leg was numb, cold, and
cramped. The prolo Dr showed us the xrays and said he
Thought he could help and he Did though it took a little
longer with her than my mom or other friends that were cured
fast but she was finally cured and went skiing shortly after
