C-7 Herniated disk

Dr. Stoll,
I recently had a cervical steroid block at the C-7. I felt
instant relief from this procedure but it only lasted for
less then on week. I have been having monsterous pain in my
head, neck, left shoulder, arm and numbness in my left hand
ever since an auto accident in June of 2000. I have been
under Chiropractic care, had some 20 sessions with a
neuromuscular therapist and currently also go to a pain
clinic on a regular basis. After seeing a neurologist
several weeks ago and after he reviewed my medical
histroy/MRI etc he reccommended the steroid injection.
Considering how painful this procedure was and the length of
time I was free of pain I would never have that procedure
done again. I would rather give birth to a 20 lb bowling
ball.I don't want surgery to fix this problem as everything
I read indicates to me that I would most likely have a 30%
chance of becoming pain free. I wonder, has anyone ever been
hyponotized into forgetting that they are in pain and
simply living with it but not knowing they are in pain? I
know I am reaching here, but thought I would give it a try.

Actually, Susan, Self-Hypnosis IS a very effective way to deal with the symptoms for some people.

However, it still does nothing for the actual mechanisms causing the problem. The self-hypnosis would make it easier to deal with the causes, though.

What have you learned about the causes in the spinal archives?

Walt
