Almost 3 years ago I had a spinal fusion, after trying epidurals, physical therapy, etc...This really seemed to work until I fell down a steep hill this past October. MRI's and X-rays show cracks in the bones that had fused. The pain level is increasing daily. I'm now wearing a back brace--which doesn't seem to help. Darovcette (sp?) helps none at all. I'm also taking Celebrex and Neorontin (sp?) The earliest I can see a pain specialist is May 1. Can you suggest anything?????? I'm getting desperate! Thanks!

Keep in mind that fusions take place at the weakest point in a joint. There are 2 causes for the weakness:
1. Gravity = Misalignments and poor posture can put more pressure on these points. The best overall therapy that I know of for posture is Neurocranial Restructuring. Rolfing, NST, and Alexander technique are others, but these only affect the muscles. NCR affects the skeleton as well as the muscles. Type the name of this treatment into the search engine at www.google.com. Click on the first or second website.
2. Weakness in the ligaments that support the surrounding tissue. Prolotherapy is a treatment that helps rebuild the ligaments surrounding the joints. You said you had a torn ligament. Prolotherapy is the only treatment that can heal a torn ligament. Go to www.prolotherapy.com for more.
Since chronic bracing plays a large role in spinal problems, effective SR is vital. Once spinal problems have gotten as bad as yours, SR cannot heal you by itself. SR, the structural therapies, herbal pain relievers such as Lyprinol, Zyflamend (from New Chapter), and glucosamine sulfate can help with pain without damaging the stomach. Geting more EFA's in your diet will help as well.
Finally, chelation therapy might be able to remove some of that excess calcium but it's a long shot. This is the very best information I have for you. I hope you use it.
