Hi everyone, just from anecdotal evidence I have decided to give up dairy to see if it helps my TMJ/tinnitus problem. Just wondering if anyone knew how long I should start to see any improvement after completely (yes whey and casein and all) giving up dairy? Thanks

I would say that the main thing you need to do is SR. It has completely worked for me.

It's probably impossible to tell, we are all so individual.
The immediate effects could be gone within a week or so, but there could be inflammation that would take longer to go away.
When I quit dairy, the phlegm problem subsided quite soon after, the sinus problems within a couple of months, and the cellulite took a good year I'd say...but since one thing I DIDN'T have was tinnitus, I can't help you there!
One thing that helps me do all this health stuff is that it makes sense to me...I believe and trust in the process. If you are certain that avoiding dairy is good for you (which it is) then avoid dairy. It WILL help you, maybe not in the intended way, and maybe not right away, but it will support your overall health so at the very least, indirectly it will help your condition.
Hope this helps.

Hi Kim,
I am really happy that SR worked for your TMJ problem. I have been doing it for maybe a month and a half, but the problem does not seem to be getting better yet. I was wondering if you did the SR sitting or lying down? Just b/c I feel more comfortable lying down but sometimes it feels like maybe my jaw is doing something odd when relaxed while lying down. Also about how long did it take until you saw any results? So you had tinnitus and the SR eliminated the tinnitus? Please say yes! :-)

has anyone just caught themselfs driving and noticed how one can have so much tension?
Since meditation is awareness every moment, we can catch those moments of holding tension in the jaw and just relax and feel the tension leave;
I notice in myself for awhile how many times i was tightening the jaw up and my partner would reach over and grab onto it and help me relax it by working the muscles slowly, i was amazed; I know he got rid of his TMJ, by just observing and catching it and practicing relaxing all the time. This sure helped me, wasn't even aware before how many times i clinched;

I find I start tightening my neck, and then my jaw follows. If I massage my neck before I go to sleep, it seems to help.

yes.
I noticed when I was in the dentists chair yesterday morning, that I was bracing really badly.
But once I noticed it, I was able to let go, and just feel light all around me and him seemed to help let go of the anxiety.

Hi, Jim.
SR for a couple of months is not nearly long enough to resolve TMJ all by itself. How long ago did you get your technique certified by biofeedback? Deep head and neck massage or Rolfing would be more likely to give you immediate relief, though temporary.
I have yet to see a case of TMJ that was resolved by totally eliminating dairy although, theoretically, I guess it is possible. Anyone seriously hypersensitive to dairy might have enough stress lifted by eliminating it that the TMJ would be temporarily relieved.
Listen to Labrat, Kim, Terri-Lynn, Bliss and Jennifer.
Hope this helps.

I had severe fluid on the ears because of the extreme tension of muscles in my neck caused by bracing and so forth. I did weekly massages (this was before i knew of dr. stoll) and just tried to relax, be aware of the bracing. IT finally went aware -- the ear problem -- after eight months. THEN when i discovered SR and it hasn't been back. I used the eraser solution Stoll suggests as well when i had a rebout of TMJ. it worked! keep it up. you'll get rid of it.
