I was having a conversation today with someone about hypnotists.
Apparently when picking out their subjects from a crowd, hypnotists know just by looking into their subjects eyes, who they are going to pick and not pick, and who will be suitable for hypnotism.
They pick according to the person's traits/strengths, but how can you tell that in a matter of seconds by looking into someone's eyes????
Anyone know what they look for when choosing someone to hypnotise?
When I was at a function a few years back, I was one of the few chosen out of a huge crowd. He went through the queue/line of us, looked into our eyes, and nodded 'yes' or 'no' as to whom he wanted, just by looking at us.The hypnotist's stage name was "Spano" and he only wanted about 7 people up on the stage.
So how do the hypnotists choose their subjects? What exactly are they looking for to determine a subjects suitability for ease of hypnotism?

Congratulations, Maria.
In my opinion the hypnosis instructor is looking for people who have the strength of character to look the seeker directly in the eye.
It takes strength of character to learn self-hypnosis, which is what ALL hypnosis is.
I might have known that you would be one of the few the instructor would pick out of the croud. How well did you do?

Thanks for answering Walt. I thought that maybe this was just an insider secret amongst hypnotists only,as no one here had answered my post.
I did really well on stage, and went under very easily. But I did have some control over my actions. It was very much like being in a dream though; being hypnotised by him.
There were some things that the entertainer asked us to do on stage, that did not sit well with me, and because I did not agree with some of his directives, I was able to stop myself from doing them, but some stuff he made us do I would not normally do (some really silly stuff he wanted us to do to entertain the crowd of course~!). I ended up coming out of the hypnotism at one stage, because it wasn't what I wanted to do, much to Spano's grief. ;-)
I guess for me being hypnotised was a little bit like being under much less self-restraint, but still somewhat in control.
I do remember looking Spano straight, direct in the eyes to get HIS attention, when he came around to choose. There is nothing bashful about me when I want something. ;)
But I do remember acting like a frog on stage (he told me to! ;), and also singing like I thought I was Janet Jackson or something! (oh, the embarrassment of it all, and my family and friends were all there watching me make a totla idiot of myself. ;) It was all good fun though.

Thanks, Maria.
You have discovered another strength you have.
