Hi, so SR right?
Checked the Archives, read quite a few posts, but honestly, can someone please just tell me what is needed when starting, and what is this machine that some people talked about, is the machine required for absolute SR, and for it to be a success?
I currently work long hours, regular split shifts, yesterday I woke up at 4am, started work at 5am, got home at 10:30am, made an apple/carrot/celery/beetroot/wheatgrass juice with a spoon of psyllium husk and a spoon of 100% Ground Linseed (Flaxseed) Meal. Tasted nice. After that I did aerobic exercise for 1 hour approx. then went back to work, got home at 3pm, was home for just under 2 hours, had a light dinner (some steamed vegies) and returned to work for 2.5 hours, and then watched some television (but nothing was on, due to this reality TV stuff) so went to bed early... Most of my days are like this, so do I have time to fit in this SR, and can I please get some more info on everything needed for starting correctly?
Thanks, David.
By the way what is MSM Crystals? And are they good for keeping the bowel regular? Or should I just continue with psyllium husk?

Hi David,
SR in a nutshell: 20 minutes of practice twice a day, spaced at least two hours apart. Do it AFTER exercise, not before. Read the "Relaxation and Stress Reduction Workbook" for suggestions about what kind of relaxation practice to do during your SR sessions. Read the glossary about "the relaxation response" to find out if you're doing the practice correctly -- if you still don't know, after about a month of practice get biofeedback to check. Do the practice for at least 6 months to know if it is working for you.
Best wishes,

I feel sorry for you. Not being unkind I really mean it. You have one hell of a schedule to keep to and you are looking to improve your health. I know how you must feel. All I can say is I posted some time ago with the same kind of thing ie. no time, get home late, havent got the time, need to rest and so on.
People said to me you must make the time for SR and you are obviously trying to find that time. I dont always do it because sometimes I come home late and cant be bothered.
What I would say is you really must look at your diet to ensure that you are eating properly - a proper whole food diet. I think that is more important than the SR really. Limit your exposure to contamination ie. alcohol, sugar and refined carbohydrates. Increase water intake and take a little time each day or night to destress. If you have the time to do SR do it but I wouldnt worry too much at the moment about testing that with biofeedback. Just take the time to relax.
You need to find the time to do as much as you can at the moment, and I realise that time is limited. If you can, take some exercise. If you cant find the time to go out walking, get a rebounder which you can do in your own home.
I have to say I am no one to be giving out advice. I am still trying to do what I have told you to do.
Regards,
Maz

Thanks Maz,
Yes, long hours, its a bugger working split shifts, but by doing this, I was able to pay off my $7,000 car loan, completely. Sure, I may not have a social life, but I am looking forward to opening my business in the Cleaning Profession in 2005. I have a passion for cleaning (yes sounds weird, of course I have passions in art and so on, but cleaning is regular and keeps me fit), and currently, I am working with a bunch of d#ckheads (excuse the word), who dont care about the job they do, but rather care about the money on pay day. Sure the money is good, but if you dont get positive feedback from the client, how can you feel good in your working profession? Impossible, well for me that is, anyway what I am trying to say here is, there is alot of stress within my workplace environment, because of the lack of compassion and teamwork, I see this everyday when the others come to work in the close they slept in, one girl has terrible dandruf, and when she cleans, she only cleans the dirt that is within customer eye. Well, its sad, because when they do a bad job, I am part of it, because I work as a team, and just before Christmas, there was a complaint about the cleaning, and we were given 30 days notice to shape up or ship out. Well, I am the only one that has worked extra hard, and the boss does not give a Sugar Honey Ice Tea, his words to me were, ' Dave I can afford to loose this contract, where as you can not'....
Man can I talk, ok, so here we are talking about SR, and I give you my life story at work...lol sorry. What I mean is, I have to continue this job for as long as it pans out, because the money is good, and one day I hope (I wont say will, but I know that if its to be, its up to me) to own my own Cleaning Company, and Kick everyones butt to Tim Buck Too.
I will try my best to do SR, just yesterday, when I was driving to a cleaning job, 35 minutes away, I put in a slow, moody jazz album, and felt really great. Instead of pumping pop music that is repeated on radio, this slow tempo, really carmed me. And for dinner, I made a nice dish of steamed veges, excluding Potato. It was nice, and although I had huge cravings to eat sugar a few hours after. but I didnt give in, and had a drink of water, and went to bed. Waking up after a health dinner, feels great you know, you feel healthy, and your energy, well mine actually, was great. And now, I am writing this to you, before I start another day of split shifts...lol
SR should be a challenge, but as long as I eat right, and by the way, I am not on a diet, I just dont like the feeling of processed foods in my stomach, and the cravings chips and more soft drinks after eating. I have been concious of my eating for quite some time now, and the benifits that I see now, are amazing. I just hope the benifits of SR will be visible as well.
Thanks, for listening to my rambeling...
dave

Hi David,
Meditation. Doing SR has been life changing for me. When the book I'm writing with Walt comes out (hopefully within a year) you can read my story.
Best wishes,

Dave ....tell me about it! I am there too. I feel for you with those who do not do the work right. I feel for you with the limited time you have to look after your health. I am there too.
This week my food intake has been absolute crap - merely because I did not have the time and I ate cheese sandwiches with white bread - My God! and currant buns! My God!
I must stop this.
Just to say, I understand. We all need to get there in the end.
Good luck.
