Lately when I have done SR, I experience visualizations - with eyes closed - that are as vivid as any dream you could have, you know, like the ones you think are really happening when you wake up. When I come out of the SR session, I feel dazed, almost stoned. Has anyone else experienced this during and after doing SR? Is this "normal"?
After reading Steven's post about the article on the dangers of SR, (for those of who you read it), it has me kind of, well, actually really concerned. Am I going nuts or is what I'm describing happening to others on the BB?
Thanks in advance for responses,
Naya

All I can say is be careful in choosing what you read about the net. Through trial and error, I had to go through who has agendas and what they were saying. Some people love to make up theories.
I went to basically every website I found and collected all the info and then saw which info was the most commonly said for my symptoms.
I personally don't know anything about visualizations but I remember reading about that as well somewhere. I want to give you as much info as I can but I also know that too much info out there can be very frightening. It's a horrible trade off.
My suggestions is try contacting someone who knows about side effects. One name that comes to mind is Dr. Tom Borkovec at Penn State University. He was part of a study on this stuff.
Here is a link to his profile at PSU which does include an email address which you can try emailing him through: http://psych.la.psu.edu/faculty/borkovec.html
Hope all that helps!

It's totally normal :)

However, just get nervous if you start to delusion that you can grow new teeth.... LOL

LOL, Michele! Actually that wouldn't be so bad. Then I could have all my teeth with their amalgams pulled out and then could grow brand new healthy ones with no mercury! What a great idea! Save all that money and time on amalgam removal and detoxing. HA!

LOL, another thing we have in common. I have a few amalgams in there that I was thinking about having taken out. I have a friend who is a reg dentist and would do all my work for free but she is not knowledgable about amalgam removals, in terms of the protocols and all that other stuff. Just my luck haha.

I have more than a few - a whole mouthful. I've been thinking about doing the removal for quite a while now, but it's so expensive here in So. Ca. I should have done it in Pa. before I moved here. It was a LOT cheaper. My regular dentist will do it, too, but I hesitate not to go to someone who specializes in amalgam removal and replacment plus detox. Plus I'm afraid I'll just about die from the whole procedure and detox since I have such a sensitive system. Even with my regular dentist doing it, it'll cost a fortune.

Plus - the big question is, will it even make a difference after all that money and torture. I know people who have had it done and said it didn't help them at all. WHAT TO DO???!!!

If I have my friend do it, it will either be free or highly reduced. I, like u, as hesitant about having a reg dentist do it. The holistic ones are out of the question as I won't pay for that. Once I can get past this anxiety issue, I hope to resolve that as well. But that's wishful thinking at this point lol.

While you are at it, "decide" you want a new hair type, and regrow/rejuvinate that also ...LOL
ahhhh if I could, I would. My hair is more of a concern than my teeth. I have about 3 fillings - so I don't feel iffy about them... but ohhh the hair. If I could somehow "sleep and think hard" and grow some long blond locks, well, all my problems would be solved! LOL

You mean you would turn into a dumb blonde? How would that solve your problems?

Hi Naya,
I thought you had stopped doing SR because it gave you brain fog.
If you are seeing visions, you might be having some kind of kunalini experience. It doesn't happen to most people.
Best wishes,
Jan

I did stop. That was what was happening before I stopped.

I don't know if stopping is the answer. Whatever you are experiencing is within you, so you set it free and at the same time, are allowing it to surface to deal with it.
Many times our night dreams do this for us...
You are in control - so just allow yourself to feel your energy take form in visual.
All things will change as you evolve...to expect to stay in the same mindset in to stay stagnent.

1. I was joking
2. I never mentioned "dumb". (eek, are you being discriminatory?)

Oh. That's right.
How would being a detour off the information highway be of use to you?

Congratulations, Naya!
Most SR practitioners would give their eye teeth to have these experiences. This is one of the few experiences that guarantee that you are reaching the "relaxation response" needed for long term benefits.

Hi Naya
I haven't read any of the other respondents, but I don't think it's that uncommon especially if you get to the really deep levels during meditation.
It's happened to me a couple of times during meditation. It's like a dream vision, without being asleep basically.
I would think it's just stress throwoff from the body/mind.

Hi Naya
So you are still meditating or not?????
In Reply to: SR Question -HELP! Really important! posted by Naya [120.21] on April 29, 2004 at 16:19:49:
Yes sounds good. Those things happen to me sometimes, where you see things so clearly (almost like you are dreaming) but you know you aren't asleep (because I am using the big spoon trick). Then afterwards yes I feel stoned which is why I like SR haha. But it goes away after a few minutes.

Well, thanks! That's a comfort, at least. I guess I'll perservere then. Thanks for posting. I was really worried.
Hope you're doing well,

I'm glad to hear I'm not alone. I don't use the spoon trick, but I know I'm awakeduring all phases of SR. This experience has only happened this stongly lately, not like before, so I was wondering. Feeling stoned when you haven't inhaled anything can be a little disconcerting!
Thanks for posting,
Naya

Hi Bliss! Thanks for all your posts. I love your little dancer! Too answer your question, I stopped, but in light of the responses I've gotten, I think I'll try again. Are you doing your SR like a good chica?
Keep on dancin',
Naya

This intense experience during SR usually happens more if I do it for an hour at a time, less so than for half an hour at a time. Do you think an hour is too much?
Right now I seem to need more than a half hour to relax fully. Am going through some really tough times, so I thought I'd do an hour sometimes.
Thanks,
Naya

Hi Naya
I am being very faithful with SR, and its paying off big time.
Start into it slowly again, and see how you go. Keep us updated!
Kind regards
Maria
