So I have been meditating regularly for the last 4 days. Even considering upping to to 3 times a day instead of the regular 2 x 20mins daily.
This was prompted by my blood tests showing an overactive thyroid, which although normal during pregnancy, I still did NOT like the symptoms I was getting.
So I got straight into the archives and did my own investigating.
It came up that meditation/SR was the best means to nip this in the bud.
So for the last four days of meditating, I have had NO more reoccurrence of the hyperthyroid symptoms.
PLUS BONUS! I am sleeping MUCH better. I don't know if any of you remember my earlier ppost, but I was having tremendous trouble sleeping. Getting to sleep and staying asleep. I thought it was just pregnancy, but turns out this is one of the main symptoms of an overactive thyroid too.
I even feel better when I wake up in the morning whereas before I was feeling so heavy and tired, fromnot sleeping well. I am putting this directly down to meditation,as I havent done anything different these last four days. I am sure serious about meditation now!
I always get serious about it, when something bad happens! Geeeezzzz! ;-)
About a year ago, I started getting early symptoms of dysautonomia. I read up in the archives and under Walt's advice, started back into meditation, and the dysautonomia disappeared very quickly. The thing that got me most motivated to meditate was when I read how bad things can get if dysautonomia is ignored!. So once that cleared up, I stopped meditating. Bad idea!
My problem though is sticking with meditation once I get better! It's like taking a magic pill and once the symptoms clear up, stopping what works!
That is something I have to learn! To meditate when the sun is shining, as well as when its raining!
I hope this willmotivate someone who is having a hard time with their health to meditate and give it an honest shot.
I also no longer have any of those restless, adrenalin feelings associated with an overactive thyroid. I am going to continue with meditation right throughout mypregnancy. i am sure the meditation is having a positive effect on my "little one" growing inside me too!
But it works so good!
I am really thankful to Walt and this website (archives etc). Without the knowledge I have gotten here, it would be a MUCH harder road back to health and well being!

Hi Bliss! What a great testimonial! I'm so glad this is working for you. Thanks also for inspiring us slackers - and I speak for myself - who don't do SR regularly enough.
Time to get back on the program.
Be well,
Naya

Hi There Naya
Hey, count me in! I am one of those slackers too! ;-)It's a constant battle to stay motivated, especially for me,when I get better, and think I no longer need it.
Unfortunately, it takes a bad turn with my health to really motivate me to meditate everyday.
Actually, after reading some of the stories in the archives, of how people really suffer who just ignore their symptoms and just tape over the red warning light instead of addressing it at it's core, it is sure enough to make you a serious meditator for life!
As they say at AA, one day at a time, huh? ;-)
Not that I go to AA or anything, lol, but it's a good way to tackle staying motivated and disciplined.

Yeah, I know!
Being pregnant has really motivated me too! ;-)
If I am feeling this good after such a short time, things can only get better and better. Meditation has always had a tremendous effect on me, so why I haven't stuck with it, I don't know. I really think there is some subconscious resistance to change there! Even some resistance to positive change, which I find weird.
I do feel more at peace with everything lately, kind of a contentment with life. Must be the stress release happening, plus I always make sure to check that I am getting into the alpha state during meditation.
