I picked up a brochure at my doc's office about learning Transcendental Meditation. I was so excited to finally talk to the doctor at the center near me... hoping that I could sign up and use this type of meditation for my SR (since I find it so hard to relax). Well, after explaining the whole program to me... I finally asked how much......$2500!!!!!!!!!!!! To go to a couple of lectures, have an interview with the doctor, and have a couple of learning sessions. OH>>>MY>>>GOD! $2500!!!!! Anyone know of a good book that teaches TM?

At first I thought you meant 250.00. Then I saw 2500.00. Wow, what a rip off is right. Did you ask them how they slept at night?

Hi Steve,
They sleep easily... since they are the smartest people in the room... Of course, they are democrats and never smile even when you hand them the money.
At least TM is an Ozone Friendly occupation except for the carbon dioxide that is expelled when the customers gasp in surprise.

Why are you bring the democrats in on this? Why not take stock of what your tax dollars do get you.
1) Roads to drive on.
2) Police and fire protection.
3) Garbage pick-up.
4) Freedom to live anywhere you want too.
I can think of worse places to live, can't you?

the dems must be unhappy because waterboy Rush doesn't carry their water... Maybe the dems need some young boy tail to make them as happy as a repub. Being so poor the repubs can't afford legal aged females, or to pay for anything they promise they will. That goes to cronies. THAT'S why the girls won't give them a thrill, and they have to go after young males. Young boys are easier. They promise the world, like they did to the preachers, in that Faith Based Initive, and AIDS drugs in Africa, and No Child Left behind, and don't fund it. The memo from Rummy was telling, to Tell MORE Lies. He want's A Saddam in Iraq. He has the Real one on trial. I'm waiting for them to Beg him to come back, and fix the mess they created. When they learn how to say Civil War and Quagmire, they will release him, and give him Everything he wants. IF they kill him, it Will be armageddon.
Good thing the repubs tell You the truth. Who do You know??))

Ain't that the truth! Nothing like being paranoid about those who really want to help the people and not the people who only care about keeping the rich rich and the middle and poor poorer.

Holly,
In my opinion, there is noting "magic" about TM. It is but one of MANY approaches to SR. That is why I have been recommending "The Relaxation and Stress Reduction Workbook"! For this price, this group is definitely more interested in money than helping--again in my opinion.
Of course they may be considering the well known mechanism: The more something costs the more likely it is that the individual will actually do the practice. Price also has a lot to do with the placebo effect that influences everything: If it costs a lot people are more likely to invest themselves in the process!
If it works for you, eventually you will consider that it would have been cheap at twice the price.

Oh, yeah, the dems are pushing for universal insurance that'd pay for medical services we, here, despise, welfare payments for stupid and lazy beasts who fornicate like rabbits, and more government. Sure, they want to help the people. BS.

Hillary's health care program was designed to make choice illegal-you couldn't choose a doctor to pay out of pocket (see the post about the woman whose insurance pays chiropractic, but only if her HMO doc recommends it, which he doesn't-what do you suppose national health care will do to alt med?). It also sought to track people to assure compliance with vaccination.
Do you know that programs like welfare require proof of being on schedule with vaccines for kids before they'll 'help' people? I know several families of working poor who don't take gov't assitance, because avoiding vaccinating their kids is essential to them. Paying taxes to help people is fine, but, as a taxpayer, I'd like to help more than the sheep.

And what's wrong in charging what they want? They don't force anyone to do anything, do they? Everybody's free to choose.

I have to agree with you.
I learnt TM too, and although the technique is good. it's something you can learn within 5mins.
I think its BS (at least in my case) that the more money you spend on learning the technique, the more you will appreciate it! that's what they tell you when you go for the introduction.
