SR - Alpha or Theta ?

Posted by Lifeisgreat [8191.3348] on April 14, 2007 at 17:24:19:

I have been experimenting with various CDs to help provoke the Alpha
and the Theta sates. I can certainly feel the difference for myself
between the two but I am wondering from a health building
perspective if one is actually better than the other. I seem to feel more
quiet and relaxed with the Alpha CD and more spacey and relaxed with
the Theta CD. Both are pleasant states of being and I do not mind
doing both. Any thoughts or personal experience about this? Or any
research pointing to an answer?

Great question, Lifeisgreat.

They're both wonderful, aren't they?

Best wishes,
Jan

To truly reprogram the brain one must have analysis of one`s own particular wavelengths. Simply meditation may
well involve spinning one`s wheels in the same rut...

Hi, Life--

The best answer I have for you is the little book "The Awakened Mind" by Nona Coxhead (I do not remember her coauthor but it is referenced in my first book and on this website.)

Hi Lifeisgreat,

Would you mind sharing what CD's you use and where you found them. I'm experimenting with SR right now trying to figure out what works best for me and would love to know what you use. Thanks!

The Awakened Mind

"by Maxwell Cade and Nona Coxhead, published by Delacorte Press. Although it is probably out of print, but your library will be able to find you a copy through their electronic lending network."

Thanks, K.

I was having a "senior moment" and could not recall the other author (Maxwell Cade).

At this time I am using a set of CDs from http://www.brainsync.com

Specifically I am using Sacred Ground. You can immediately download
four 30 minutes tracks for only $14.95. The first one works
wonderfully for the Alpha state. The other ones will bring you into
Theta and a touch of Delta but not enough in my exprerience to bring
you to sleep. I have tried many CDs in the past and this one is just
great - besides being the cheapest one too! A great value.

Thanks to the Seniors on board - I'll find the book somewhere for sure.
