Dr. Stoll: SR

Posted by k. [2065.3349] on January 25, 2009 at 02:46:48:

Hi Dr. Stoll,

In addition to the slideshow I told you about a few weeks ago, I discovered another visual method that works great for putting one into the alpha state. It involves looking at an animated picture on the computer. After I look at it long enough to go under, so to speak, I then look at pictures of optical illusions. Altogether, it works very well. I'm leaving you the animated picture I use, it's incredibly simple, but very effective.

Hope you're feeling ok.

k.

Yes, Lady Jayne, if you watch it just a little, and then turn away and look at some nature pictures, you can do it as SR. But, if you can't sleep at night, just go stare at it until you're putty.

I'm so glad that you like it that much Maria, and that it helps you. I love it too!

To tell you the truth, I absolutely don't remember where I got these eyes. Sometimes if I see something, or if something is sent to me with a good animated picture, I will save it. I love animated pictures.

You can always google for animated pictures and websites, I think there must be a lot. And as usual, when surfing the web, you will have to wade through lots of stuff to find what you like. It's time consuming but well worth it.

I have a nice collection of nature pictures to practice SR by, but it took a while to acquire them, and I'm always adding more. I recently started looking for optical illusion and psychadelic pictures to use for my SR, and now I'll be collecting animated ones as well.

Happy blinking,
k.

You're very welcome Dr. Stoll. I can't believe how simple and yet how effective this is, a sure-proof method. Do you ever use it now? The last time I remember your SR technique D'Jeur was colored glasses.

P.S. And I never will stop trying, never.

Opinn, that's scary alright! Do other SR techniques have that effect on you? If not, then this is not the one for you. If, in general, you have trouble getting into the SR state, then maybe your subconscious is resisting giving up control.

Well it's as important to know what you don't like, as much as what you do like. So by all means, ignore it, and keep on doing what you're already doing!!!

was that the blue coloured glassess?

I think I read about that either here or somewhere else, or thought about trying it.

I remember as a young child wanting to have a blue coloured light to light my room. I guess it was the soothing effect of the blue.

You know Maria, I absolutely don't remember if they were one color (and which one) or multi-colored.

I do vaguely remember another discussion on here about the healing power of blue light. Evidentally it has to be a certain kind of blue or glass or something, but it intrigued me because I love color.

I know what you mean, I love blue light too, especially when coming from that bright royal blue glass, it's so gorgeous. I'm going to read a little about color therapy when I get the chance, I think it has a lot of potential.

I painted my room green. Blue and green are two colours we have greatest connection to, in an evolutionary sense. Green the colour of plants, trees, grass, etc. and blue the colour of sky. It seems no coincidence these are the most soothing of colours. I read up a bit about this in a book but can't remember which one, it goes into the evolution of the eye in relation to our environment and needs, possibly a Dawkins one. Interesting topic.

Thanks Chris, if you ever remember the name of the book, I'd love to know it, it sounds very interesting.

Color is so powerful. Are you enjoying your green room? It is absolutely one of my favorite colors.

Color is very much related to balance. I was reading about fung shui and how elements and colors have to be balanced. A perfect example is my bedroom. For many years my comforter and accessories were aqua and silver. After moving recently, I absolutely couldn't stand the thought of one more aqua night, so I completely changed gears and did my new bedroom in brown, gold, and rust, with only slight hints of mint for accent. It's what my bodymind needed after all these years of cool colors. Now I'm nice and hot! :o)

Hi Jan,

You got it!!!

And it's interesting to see how different cultures utilize color. Asians like to use neutrals with warm and cool colors as accents, whereas Latin Americans and Scandinavians like bold color. Then there are the rustic golds, rusts, and greens of Tuscany, and the feminine pinks and black of Paris.

My guess is it was The Selfish Gene by Richard Dawkins. Either way it is never a bad thing reading his books! Whenever I search for "eye+colour+evolution" it brings up results about the evolution of eye colour, rather than the evolution of the eye in relation to colours interpreted within the electromagnetic spectrum.

and how long does your sr last till it's effects start to run out, and you need to change to another sr method?

Thanks, I'll take a look at this book.

I tried to phrase the search a new way and left you the results, maybe it will yield some valuable information.

And I wonder just how much our eyes have changed in regards to color interpretation. It's strange but according to my color class, yellow is supposed to be the hardest color to register, and yet it is the easiest on my eyes. I think red or blue is supposed to be the easiest to register, it has to do with the wave length, I believe. And again, I find that balance is crucial, just as we need both warm and cool seasons, it's the same for colors because they really do affect us psychologically.
