Dear t.,

The strep germ is everywhere. WHY do we not ALL have it all the time?

It is our relative immunity that determines whether we will sucumb to it of not.

Your son has insufficient immunity to protect himself. WHY is that, & how can you find out exactly what he has to do to stop this?

Go to the FAQ page & read about "Sugar & Immunity" and "Immunity & Stress". My guess is that his diet is pretty terrible. Please correct me if that is not true so I can shift gears. If it IS true, between you both you are going to have to decide whether a strict whole foods diet for a month or so is worth trying. I would not even consider trying it without Beth Loiselle, RD's book----if you want results that fast.

If you end up going this route (meaning his diet is terrible), he would see a LOT of improvement in how he feels (in ALL areas of his function---not just the throat) within that month. It would be that incentive that should keep him on the diet for the 6-12 months needed to resolve something like this.

In the meantime, he might be helped just by taking a sufficient amount of esterified vitamin C daily (dose is based on his weight).

home alternatives to penecillin

Posted by Brandy Jester on July 29, 1998 at 22:03:43:

I rarely get sick because I tend to eat right and take vitamins regularly. I'm 22 and an athlete so staying healthy keeps me in business. BUT, I screwed up last week and ate junk food for a week straight. I smoked cigarettes until I woke up coughing and wheezing. The day after that, I developed strep throat. I didn't, and still probably won't, go to the doctor because I know I have it and they'll just charge me an arm and a leg to tell me what I already know:
I have the symptoms: White patches on one of my tonsels, earaches and swollen, tender glands on my neck. The thing is, I think I need penicillin, but I thought maybe there was a home remedy or vitamin I could take to get rid of it. I have almost unlimited access to vitamins through "Life Plus". I havn't smoked a cigarette since this happened because I need to get well. I have a surfing contest in a week and the water will put my immune system to the test as it is. I would like to know what foods and/or vitamins will help. I've been told I have to go to the hospital because that is the only way to know. HELP PLEASE!!! I'll dedicate my trophy to you : )

Re: home alternatives to penicillin: Try Colloidal Silver

Colloidal Silver is a broadband anti-fungal, anti-viral
anti-bacterial. Applied topologically, it is harmless. If you
are going to take it internally, then a few cautions are in
order.

(1) Don't take more than 10 drops at a time. Put the drops
under your tongue. After 5 minutes, swallow. After 10 minutes,
drink a 8 oz. glass of bottled or filtered water.

(2) Don't exceed more than 30 drops in a 24 hour period.
(3) Don't use colloidal silver for longer than 5 days at a time.

Colloidal Silver is very powerful, can and will wipe out your
beneficial intestinal flora and fauna. After you are finished
killing off everything (good & bad) take a pro-biotic to
"restock" your intestines with helpful bacteria.

Dear Brandy,

What evil gremlin caused you to be so self destructive right before your surfing contest????

The only thing that I know that might get you "in the swim" is taking at least 4 grams of ESTERIFIED vitamin C 3 tmes a day till your contest is over. You need to start that yesterday so don't order it, get it today at the store.

Eat more Garlic!

Have you considered eating raw garlic as part of your diet? I eat a full head of garlic three times a week. I first dissasemble the Garlic bulb and then peel each clove. I then chop the cloves up and mix them with a can of tuna, mayonaise, and celery seed. I make a sandwhich on whole wheat bread, topped with sliced fresh tomatoes. Something cold to drink is a good idea, as garlic can vary from bland to very spicey. This regimen also keeps Vampires away. I have been a garlic lover for a long time, and have seen NO vampires, so I spose it does work. Today, Garlic is popular, and more folks are eating it. "It is chic to reek!"
