Anxiety?

Posted by deb on June 19, 2002 at 12:20:34:

I have been having spells where my heart pounds heart my pulse gets up to 100 and blood pressure is ok-hands sweat feel funny headed and sometimes heavy chest. I shake internally also.
I was in emergency once for this and was told it was anxiety. I also think it happens when I move around or maybe it is happening before and gets worse when i move around. When i see my husband it gets bad and or hear his voice. I am worried its a heart problem but was told it was anziety. Is it?How do you know the difference?

Sounds like Panic Attacks so stop consuming caffeine products (even decaf and diet), drink 8 to 10 glasses of water everyday, stop consuming Strawberries and Aspirins and start practicing a Stress Reduction technique 2X a day for 30 minutes!

Rick, that doesnt always work. Actually it rarely works. You need to see a dr. and get some medication, also the SR will help. Removing caffeine, may help, but the aspirins and strawberries????? LMAO!!! Stopping them will do nothing.

Why do you think it gets worse when you see your husband or hear his voice? Are you afraid of him? Are you having marital problems? Maybe you need to see a counselor or therapist to find out the underlying causes of your anxiety.

Hi Jennifer - Wouldn't it be nice to know everything like LOL thinks they do - the person was probably never sick a day in their life LOL! My wife suffered from terrible Panic Attacks and through trail and arrow we decovered that Strawberries contain something like caffeine in them that triggers a reaction - what exactly that is I have no idea - I just wanted to "WARN" others that Strawberries can bring on a Panic Attack and Aspirins do contain caffeine - as well as decaf coffee and tea!

Hi, deb.

ANY of the responses might be your trigger but none of them could "push you over the edge of your cliff" unless you were right on the edge all the time.

This is what this BB has been talking about for more than 8 years now. The solution is for you to start living back away from the edge of the cliff.

That means your learning about stress-effect storage in the hypothalamus and SR.

Let us know what you learn.

Hypoglycemic attacks mimic the EXACT symptoms of an anxiety attack. Have a glucose challenge done. I believe you will find an abnormality.

Try this: Lower your starchy carbohydrate intake (bread, cereal mostly) and eat protein every couple of hours. Try 200-400mcg of chromium picolinate and 1200mg of L-glutamine per day. Most importantly, don't eat refined carbohydrates or any food that you suspect you are allergic to. See if that doesn't dispell the symptoms

This makes sense! I started on whey protein today and have not had a spell-I read so much on this protein I wanted to try it. But was not sure if I should take it when I have mild candida. how do i explain a glucose challenge test to my doctor? She says it is normal when in menopause to have these spells but checked my sugar and she said it was normal. Someoone told me once having candida and parasites can cause hypo attacks

Checking a random blood sugar reading is next to useless. The best is the 5-hour glucose challenge as done at the Atkins Center. Other wholistic clinics do this as well. It will show exactly how you react to sugar and will tell you weather you are hypoglycemic, normal, or hyperglycemic.

The whey protein is good. Mix it with some goat milk yogurt and even add some good fats like raw egg yolk (only from free-range chickens). I believe the fat will help stablize you as well.
