Hi,
I'm a college student at a small, highly-regarded liberal arts school. I've been having some weird problems lately. At the end of the year, I started having a weird rash on my palms, and was diagnosed with dishydrosis. I've always twirled my hair my whole life, but I've recently started pulling some out too. The last thing is that i've been having pretty bad aches and pains in my chest and back, which remind me of how it felt when I was little and diagnosed with costochondritis. Could these be related? I feel like a complete hypochondriac because overall i'm functioning fine, but these symptoms are often bothersome. I'm scared to go to the college health center because the symptoms sound so odd and i'm not sure that the health center would know what to do. any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks..

These all sound to me like anxiety reactions...

Hi, Lydia.
Listen to just.
SR is the solution to all of this but it will take at least 6 months. By that time you are going to be into your second year so you have to get started at once.
See the glossary for any unfamiliar terms.

I suffered from the hair pulling starting at three years old and an old doctor told my mother that I was under severe stress due to her marital problems with my father. I would pull my hair out by the handfuls and would also eat it! I was three years old at the time and can still remember the pain. Sound like you're haveing some stress problems yourself. I still have all kinds of stress related problems but have managed to keep them under control with stress fighting supplements. Good Luck!!
