the problem with this test is that it doesnt take into account an individuals perception of the events eg the highest rating one is death of spouse, but for an abused wife that could be a great thing!!!

LOL! That cracked me up!
Are you talking from experience?
Yeah, its all a matter of interpretation, isnt it! Whats considered a stressful event to one, may be a walk in the park to another.

Don't Take this Stress Test - The Idea is To REDUCE Stress

I haven't taken the test. Haven't even looked at it.

I thought the idea of SR is to bring one's focus on destressing. Articles and little "tests" simply underscore your stress level.
Simply, if you have to have a test to see if you are stressed, then you are focusing on stress, calling it in a sense, rather than doing something about it. Maybe instead of taking the test you take a nice walk outside or listen to some relaxing music, or anything, really, instead of "testing" yourself to see how stressed or non-stressed you are.

Take this Stress Test and See How Stressed Are You (pretty worthless) Archive.

Thanks, Em.

The problem with this test is that it only lists psychosocial stressors (and for that it IS valuable) that make up about 10% of the total burden (Reference: "The modern Medical Interpretation of Stress." in the home page articles.)

That article also helps one understand why one man's stressor is another man's "walk in the park".

Hope this helps.

It is a typical "fun" entertainment thing on the net, not meant to be real. I think it should be looked at as just that, a frivolous game for the unaware.
It totally does not take into consideration Eustress, which is good stress, not a persons perception of the reality of their stressful event. As someone said, a dead spouse in the case of an abused spouse may just be eustress, not distress, which in fact, would lower her or his overall stress level considerably. In addition, overall lifestyle must come into play here - which it doesn't. It's a updated version of a wacky cosmopolitan magazine "love test". LOL
