Hi everybody. Here I go again. I have been feeling alot better lately, that is until tonight. Have been going to yoga classes, trying SR, eating better, taking my fish oil, started exercising again and have been actually feeling alot more like myself. Today I went to the gym and worked out for about 30 mins, hit the sauna for about 10 mins, showered, went to whole foods to get some groceries, came home and had salad and fish, cheese and crackers, along with some Lebanon bologna. I put my girls to bed, got a glass of water and got a very weird taste in the back of my throat. I felt super tired so I went and laid down. As soon as I laid down I started getting the burning sensation under my skin in my abdominal area, then my skin started feeling like it was burning and itching. I felt wired again and have been that way for about 4 hrs now. I looked in the mirror and my skin almost has a sunburned look to it and if I press my finger on it, it blanches. I burn and itch all over and lots of burning under my skin in my abdominal area and sometimes in my intestinal area too. I am so tired, but at the same time wired feeling, I guess from the burning sensation. Still have the weird taste in my mouth too. Sorry this is so long, but I am freaking out again. Thanks, Geri

Hi Geri,
Would you describe the sensation as a flushing feeling? I had something similar a few times with itching and flushing that started with my head and face and worked it's way down my body. Sounds like you only had it in your abdominal area, though. Mine began with eating some dried dates from the health food store...supposedly with no additives, but I'm guessing there must have been some sulfites or other preservatives in them. I get a similar reaction with MSG...except that I have extreme brain fog and dizziness.
Maybe the bologna or one of the salads you ate contained MSG. In commercial deli or packaged meats, they don't have to disclose MSG on the label. It can be included as "spices", and has other hidden names as well, so it could be in salad dressing. If you bought prepared salads from a salad bar or deli, they might contain sulfites. If all your foods came from Whole Foods market, they probably don't contain sulfites and are less likely to contain MSG, but they still might.
What about an allergy to fish or other foods? I haven't followed all of your posts on this, but have you tried keeping a food diary to track your symptoms and what you eat?
Wishing you the best,
Nutmeg

Thanks Nutmeg. I just remembered I ate some granola mix with dried cherries in it, but it was from whole foods. The lebanon bologna was from my mother-in-law so I am sure it was full of all kinds of stuff I shouldn't eat. The burning, itching, crawling sensation is all over my skin. I get an intense burning sensation in my abdominal area that feels like it is under the skin. I feel wired , but so tired when I get these attacks. I hope you are doing well nutmeg, Geri

I wonder if I am in perimenopause?

Hi Geri,
As you heal through using the 3LS, expect to run over some speed bumps from time to time. It's natural that your body has some exacerbations during the healing process. See Chapter 5 about how healing progresses. And keep doing what you're doing -- looking for new clues about what might be happening. Sometimes when you feel better in one area, you start experiencing symptoms with something you didn't realize had a problem. Just keep moving forward with all the healthy things you are doing!
Best wishes,
Jan

Lunch meats in general, packaged instant soup mixes and my favorite flavored tortilla(major brand name) chips and other flavored snack chips, all give my that itchy burning crawling and even stinging , biting feeling. My sensitivity has escalated to the extent that i get flushed dizzy and breathless from significant amounts....

Just curious, what type of job and stresses do you have? If you have a panic or anxiety attack, take a deep breath , hold it for about 10 seconds and slowely let is out. Anxiety is largely a problem of the middle class generally being forced or forcing themselves into situations that involve time stacking and an anability to deal with handling them as society demands increase.
You don't see it as much in the trades and blue collar people. It's mainly with people who have desk jobs and do not exercise.
Go ahead and exercise, nothing happens overnight and don't depend on you diet to solve all your problems. There is no remote control cure

Hi Geri. How old are you? That is definitely a possibility, although it does sound like a possible allergic reaction to something. I've read some of your posts and am really sorry to hear you're going through all of this.

My money's on the Lebanon bologna. Commercial lunch meats are not good! Better not to mess up your whole foods diet with stuff like that. Chances are you're allergic or sensitive to one or more of the additives in it. I don't think you'd get the weird taste or itching with perimenopause, but I could be wrong. Keep up your SR and try to relax more.

Hi Geri,
I hope you are feeling much better by now.
Did your mother-in-law make the bologna? If she used a commercial spice/flavoring mix, then it almost certainly has MSG in it.
It's the pits being sensitive to foods or having food allergies, especially when you have trouble identifying the culprit. Reactions don't always occur right away, and of course, we rarely only eat one food at a time. The good news is that as we heal, we can often tolerate moderate amounts of foods we previously reacted to, or we have a less dramatic reaction.
Wishing you the best figuring this all out,
Nutmeg

Thanks, Moonchild.
I definitely agree! Most products like this are a witch's brew of stuff that they are not required to put on the lable.
As people begin to get healthier their systems will, nearly always, become more sensitive to trace things they used to get away with because of numbness. In 6 months or so, they usually stert living far enough from the edge of their cliff to not react so strongly.
By then they also have a pretty good idea what things are stressors.
