What Kind of Doctor Should I Seek??

Over a period of 12 years different specialist have diagnosed me with: fibromyalgia; chronic fatigue immune dysfunction syndrome; herniated C4/C5 disk; cervical hypolordosis/stenosis; osteoarthritis at T5/6/7, and a 4 degree spinal curvature (whatever that means). Just yesterday additional x-rays revealed "mild arthritis" at L4, but my doctor said the degree of pain I am experiencing in my lower back is disportionate to the degree of arthritis and suggested I see a physical therapist or chiropractor. Can someone tell me what kind of doctor I need to see that can put all these pieces of data together and give me the BIG PICTURE? I cannot walk 50 feet without excruiating lower back pain. Should I see a rheumatist, an orthopedic doc, a chiropractor, spine specialist??? Who??? Thanks you all, DoryJ

I would look into Prolo/Sclero therapy for the back pains.

Dory,

The injections are dextrose or saline and can rebuild
tendons and ligaments and put bones back in place that may
be pressing on nerves. Different Dr's can do it. The one
I knew of was an back surgeon at a teaching hospital who
gave up cuting when he found the technicque but any Dr can
do it if they learn how. There is info in the archives on
it. if I had back trouble it would be the First thing I
would consider. My mother had the treatment 45 yrs ago after
10 yrs of minor problems that really got bad and hasn't had
any pain since as others i know who had it done.

Dory, I have weak muscles and my back will hurt when
standing doing something and I found wide, elastic back
supports that help a lot.

I have CFS and FM but from a chemical exposure. is
anything helping yours ?? I may be different but a multi
vitamin, niacin, zinc, and now MSM has helped me a lot.
Forgot Ester C.

Finding the right physician Vince was the most helpful thing I did. It only took 9 years. My symptoms are now being treated allopathicly, and I am getting relief, except I think I need a bone doc or something for the deterioration of my spine. Sidenote Vince: I operated at CFS/FMS/ME/GWS chatroom with the chat client IRC. We are located on any Undernet server at channel #WINGS. Come visit us anytime.

Hi, DoryJ.

ALL of your problems are caused by one simple cause that has (as they almost always do) proliferated new conditions over the years. Read Hans Selye, MD's book: "The Stress of Life" OR Dr Pelletier's MAH, MAS.

The doc you need can be found by calling (800) 843-9660 and asking them to give you a list of docs, in your area, who have subscribed to their service for at least 2 years.

Of course, you can get a head start by scouring the glossary and archives about stuff like stress, SR, arthritis, CFS, fibromyositis, LGS and the like. A lot of work but your only chance of a normal life rests in YOUR becoming an expert in your condition.

Dory,

-I may have a somewhat negative picture about most doctors so ...-

It would be hard for me to say what one doctor you should go to. It would obviously be improtant to make sure you bring all your information with when you do go to a doctor; bring xrays; reports etc etc.

Chiropractors and help with somethings that you list; sometimes. Just like all doctors; chiropractors dont treat the same way.

Walt said something I was just thinking and that is; you will probably need to be a master of your own condition to help yourself. To me most doctors are after $ more then they want you to get better. Science now adays can be confusing and can be quite clear it depends on how you look at it. For example depending on what type of doctor you go to your herniated cervial disc could be treated in various ways; sugically; nutritional; chiropractically; physical therapy; and perhaps even biochemically via meditation.

I wish you good luck on your search for getting healthier

I might not have been that helpful but It's quite hard to say which doctor you SHOULD go to. Since various doctors can treat your problems these days and each doctor within each profession can treat it yet again various ways.

Sean
