Sleepy all the time, elevated white blood cell count, sensitive to light

My girlfriend is sick and the doctors can't seem to determine what is wrong with her. Her symptoms are the following: sleeps 12-14 hours per day, eyes very sensitive to light, achy joints periodically, fever periodically, dark circles under eyes, elevated white blood cell count, and she has had a cough for a prolonged period of time. In addition, she has been under stress and suffers from mild depression for the past 4-6 weeks. She has been on sick leave from work for the past month due to her low energy levels. The doctors have done every blood test imaginable and everything has come back negative. They have tested for allergies (negative) and a doctor tested her for Chronic fatigue syndrome and that came back negative also. The doctors seem to have tested everything imaginable and everything comes back negative. Any ideas what this could be??

It is a problem of wasting $ and time with the wrong doctors.

A clinical Ecologist could help.

I always confounded doctors with my own very similar collection of symptoms...the sensitivity to light was the strangest for them !

Beginning the macrobiotic program took away virtually all of my symptoms, though they slowly rebuilt themselves over two years. Beginning a program to heal my gut and to kill candida has swung the fight back in my favor again.

(in my view any doctor that "tests for chronic fatigue syndrome" is ignorant. it is much more useful to be concerned with more concrete mechanisms of biochemical bottlenecks.)

read up around here...int he glossary and archives...under topics like LGS, candida, EYES-- dark circles under, etc.
there are few fast and easy answers, but there are definite ones.

good luck
dr stoll will point you more steadily in the right direction.

The sensitivity to light may be a key.
You said many tests were done and all were normal. Of course, many thousands of blood and other tests are possible and weren't done.
Sensitivity to light may be due to low levels of inhibitory neurotransmitters like serotonin . If low, it may be helped by taking 5-hydroxy tryptophan and niacin (beware the flush from niacin if never taken before.) But allergic reactions (wheat, e.g) and hidden Protozoan parsitosis (called "Leaky Gut Syndrome/Candida" here) prevent proper serotonin levels from being reached, it has been my experience.
What kind of allergy tests were done? The blood antibody tests can give many false negatives. Because these may not be true antibody-antigen reactions; rather the undigested food may be getting into the blood and shocking the organs directly. This is better tested with kinesiology. (But as Dr. Stoll very wisely indicated, there are very few people that do accurate kinesiology.)
Don't waste time with any stool tests for Protozoan parsites, see a kinesiologist who does this, or get the rectal swab test in NYC.
Also mercury, and possibly other heavy metal, toxicity is known to cause sensitivity to light, and many other serious complaints. If not done, get a Hair Mineral Analysis right away. This will look for 35-40 toxic and nutritional minerals. The EPA and the WHO have stated that this is the most accurate test for long-term heavy metal exposure.
I hope this helps.
Be well.

Hi, Juicebiz.

How old is your friend?

The ONLY possible cause for this is storage of stress-effect in the hypothalamus.

Her docs are at least 50 years behind the research in this area. See Dr Selye's classic "The Stress of Life".

Also she could spend a few days on this 'site with the glossary, search engine, homepage and archives about stress and SR.

If SHE is not willing to do this , you just need to love her as she is and let her get worse--which she will.

Let us know what happens.

Walt

Walt,

She is 30 years old. She is/was a very hard worker in her career before this happened. She went through a tough divorce that was drawn out for 2 years. That was finalized about 10 months ago. A lot of her stress has been caused by her ex and things he has done. Does this extra information help?

Walt,

Would her white blood cell count be elevated from stress-effect in the hypothalamus? Could you also recommend a doctor who would understand her condition in the Oklahoma City area.

Yes, this helps.

It confirms what I said before since, at this age, there are no other possibilities---regardless of how remote.

SHE has to do the work and THEN, perhaps, there is hope for her.

Hi, Juice.

Definitely! One of the first blood findings (Selye) that reflected stress-effest storage was elevated WBC.

Do not ask me to feed this to you piecemeal. The references I offered have all of that in there PLUS a lot more that you have not yet thought to ask.

SHE is the one who needs to know this.

Walt
