circulation problems in hands due to neck injury?

The flow of blood in my hands can vary very dramatically very quickly ~ one minute they're pure white ~ next purple ~ independant of each other. I have a neck injury which affects the C3,4,5 area resulting in reversal of the cervical curve and I suspect this is to blame. Doctors disagree. What is your opinion?

Thanks, Linda

Hi, Linda.

Sounds a lot like Raynaud's to me. Are you a smoker or a highly strung person?

Walt

Hi Walt,

I'm not a smoker but I can be highly strung... I don't think it's Raynauds though as I do occassionally suffer from that as do my mother and sister. This feels a lot different.

I saw a new chiropracter this weekend who uses Kineseology (?!) and she reckons its the result of a bad virus I had a few years ago (which has never really gone away) attacking my nervous system. I think I revert to trying to deal with my viral problems and leave the neck misalignment til it's strong enough to stay put when adjusted..

Anyway, thanks for your reply Walt,

Linda

Dr. Stoll: couldn't find Raynauds in archives. what is it pls? I had neck injury 10 yrs ago...nmi

Hi, Lauri.

Raynaud's is a sudden, spastic constriction of the arterties to the tips of the extremities, most commonly affecting one finger (or toe) at a time and lasting less than an hour. The extremity turns purely white and cold and the line of demarkation between the normal circulation and the absent circulation is sharp.

Eventually, the tip of the affected extremity can be so oxygen starved that gangrene sets in and amputation is necessary.

The causes, so far identified, are smoking and intolerable anxiety. The human genome project is beginning to indicate that there can also be a genetic susceptibility although the above has to be there for it to show up.

Hope this helps.

Walt
