SOMETIMES WHEN EATING I WILL GET A "SPASTIC ESOPHAGUS ATTACK". THERE IS CHEST PAIN OF VARIOUS DEGREES DEPENDING ON THE SEVERITY. A SEVER ONE WILL STOP MY BREATHING MOMENTARILY & WILL PASS OUT FOR ABOUT 10-15 SECONDS. WHEN AWAKEN FROM THIS I FEEL LIGHT-HEADED FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES OR SO. THE DOCTOR HAS ME ON ZANTAC & RECENTLY HAD A UPPER GI & A BARIUM SWALLOW. I DON'T HAVE THE RESULTS YET. READING THROUGH BOARDS ETC. I HAVEN'T CAME ACCROSS MY SYMPTOMS. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR ANY ADVICE & HELP.

i dont know if im correct, but it could be a hiatal hernia, causing this, when yoou dont chew your food well enough,it passes by the hernia, which affects the nerve at the diaphram, jus a guess. also the barium test is useless, you need a endoscope.and maybe a motility test

Does anyone know if this is where I post my question to Dr. Stoll? I am new and a little confused by this bulletin board. Marianne

Hi, Steve.
This is called "cardiospasm" and has NOTHING to do with your heart--in spite of the name.
Stress is the only cause. You could probably get results from the ginger root juice but, without dealing with the stress-effect storage, the relief will not be permanent.
See the glossary for any unfamiliar terms. You need to learn about GERD, SR, bracing, dysautonomia and anxiety.
Let us know what you learn.
Walt
