Dear Walt
have you heard of connection between Accutan and hyperthyreosis /Graves/ Graves ophtalmopatia? Any scientific data to read about it? Any advice, someone out there who has experienced the same?
I had Accutan from December 2000 to April 2001 and developed Graves (eye) disease in March-April. I had very low TSH and high T4 but practically no other symptoms than mild exophtalmos and swelling aroud the eyes. I was treated medically and TSH and T3/T4 were soon normal. Next week I am going to get high doses of prednisolone iv to remove swelling and prevent damage to the eye. Eye pressure has rised but no damage done so far. I have also two thyroid nodules, but I can continue with oral medicine and avoid RAI or surgery if prednisolone helps. I am feeling perfectly alright, though. What do you think about radiation of the eyes? That is what will happen next if this prednisolone will not help.
About my causes, I have a stressfull job but I am eating healthy, exercising and enjoying my family and pets. I feel good and optimistic, as I did already before all this. I would like to keep my eye sight and look normal again.

Hi, Cat.
I have never seen Grave's Ophthalmopathica be reversed by anything other than the careful practice of SR.
I have heard nothing about accutane triggering Grave's but since both acne and Grave's are basically related to storage of stress-effect in the hypothalamus........
This kind of stress is RARELY felt by the individual. See the homepage, glossary, search engine and archives till you understand that psychosocial stress is the very least cause of the total stress burden.
Let us know what you learn.
Walt
