Cyst?

I know it said to do your "homework", but I am at a complete loss here....Looking and looking about on the internet has not helped me at all! I am hoping that perhaps someone out there can help me.

My partner has a growth on her shoulder that seems to be a cyst or tumor. Not being a doctor, and with her not wanting to go...I do not know what to do.

She has a bump on her left (backside) shoulder that is raised but not secreting anything. It is softer in the center of the growth but hard at the base of it. She is complaining of her arm being tingling, and it becomes numb at times. Then when she raises her arm she feels a "burning" sensation all through her arm and into her neck. As if that wasn't enough, she is having some headaches and her heart races when it is touched. She also feels faint when it is touched.

Can anyone help me? I really would like some sort of answers at all....

Thank You

Hi, PixieDust.

Your girlfriend needs to get hold of herself.

First, she needs to have an excisional biopsy of the lump (probably a sebaceous cyst). However, she is putting herself through unnecessary agony worrying about it--much worse than the actual procedure.

The rest of her symptoms are due to the stress of thinking about her no longer being perfect--sort of like that first scratch on a new car.

Let us know how she does when the thing is removed.

She better do something about her stress response or her life is going to be hell from now on.

Walt
