My mother is 47 years old, walks 20km a day (she is a letter carrier), eats whole grains, organic foods, drinks purified water, eats a 95% vegetarian diet (and almost no dairy), stretches daily, and does not drink or smoke. She had a strange episode of blurred vision and confusion today (I don't know every detail yet) and her doctor tells her that every sign points to a TIA. She had several tests today, and was given the results that they showed no obvious blockages. I am very concerned. I looked in your archives on TIA and searched elsewhere on the net, but have not really seen what may lead to this. I've seen several suggestions to excercise, quit smoking, etc. yet my mother is very physically fit and very conscious of what she eats and does not smoke (or drink). Her one weakness is 2 cups of coffee per day, could this be the cause? Also, she was diagnosed with ITP at the age of 12 and had her spleen removed at 22, could ITP be a contibuting factor? I've seen several references to aspirin helping, yet because of ITP she is not allowed to take aspirin. The other reference I have seen is to chelation, should this be something she should look into?

Hi, Kris
I'm a couple years older than your mother and started SR, exercise and diet almost a year ago. True, I'm having problems with my diet and exercise, however, do at least 1 SR session daily. Feel as though I've come a long way in a short amount of time.
Some of my problems are no longer a problem. IMHO, it appears your mother would benefit from learning and doing SR sessions daily. You can click onto glossary at the top of this post in order to learn more on skilled relaxation, diet and exercise. Hope this helps you and your mother.

Thank-you for the suggestion, we will definately look into this. I am still concerned though that this TIA she had is a symptom of a larger problem and I would like to help her find out what this is so that it does not lead to something larger (i.e. stroke). I really would like to know if anyone has any insight on whether or not her ITP could have contributed to this attack.

Hi, Kris.
The one thing, glaring in its absence from your mother's VERY healthy lifestyle, is SR.
Once she learns how this fits into what she has, I am sure she will take it from there.
Let us know how she does.
