OK...so after a year of doing SR/Neurofeedback and staying on a Candida type diet for more than that I thought I would try a scientific experiment with Dr Hagen
Daz....noted Dutch naturopath. So I ate a full bowl of his delicious ice cream concoction last night and wow was it good...butterscotch to be precise.
Soooooo this morning I wake up feeling bad....a bit depressed for a half hour til I talk my way out of it. On
top of that, a minor blemish...sheesh I`m 55 already so what is up with that. Have not had one since I started the candida diet. Is this the gut, the liver whaaaat.
I really have been feeling much better these days. Energy is virtually back to normal, mood is very much
improved....but this reaction to sugar is bizarre. I ate
pounds of this stuff pre my "illness" a few years ago
and I can`t remember feeling this way....I know my kids
can do this without the repercussions...(we let em sin
on vacations and birthdays) so why is it different with
me....what organ or system is causing this.
If it is the brain, I must say that I did not see a mood
rise from the butterscotch...simply that positive reinforcement to the taste buds. My immune system checks out normal....though my SigA was low when tested a year
or so back.
I have just finished a few months of mercury removal and
plan on chelating over the next little while...but never did get any test results back indicating anything above
low toxicity in hair, urine etc. Just thought it was worth doing.
My sleep is normal and I am in good shape...though not
athletic and exercise is the low one on the three L`s.
Sooooo why would one dose of sugar do this to me doc.

Hi Paul,
Sorry about your problem with Dr Daz.
I wonder if your body is so able to handle a blast of sugar, that it actually drove your blood sugar down
far lower than it was supposed to. This is called Insulin Rebound.

Did you eat something immediately after waking up?
That may be what helped you to "talk your way out of it".
Did you have symptoms of low blood sugar that compare
with the following?

Ron.Could you repost that link..did not work for me.
No..didn`t eat anything....just meditated my way out
of it....I have had this crappy depressed feeling
every morning for many years but it had improved
thanks to my "clean living" over the last few years.
Methinks it is a sign of some underlying issue and you
may not be that far off by leading to blood sugar
although my AM blood sugar labs are fine. I seem to
remember Walt dissing these though and suggesting
another type of test.......

I wonder if it was the sugar OR the dairy.
If you really have to have a sinful frozen dessert once in a while, you could try soy ice cream. It's called "Purely Decadent" (made by Soy Delicious), and is absolutely delicious and organic. It's not technically ice cream since there is no dairy.
I indulge in it maybe twice or three times a year. Whole Foods sells it.

Hi Philly.
Well now that you mention it, I have tried soy ice
cream and did not get the same reaction...well perhaps
a milder one. The brand is just a pure sugar high and
one only need to take a spoonful to realize that the
sugar content is massive.
I am fairly confident that this is the sugar as I
do experiment with milk once in a while with no ill
effects....

Hi Paul,
Sounds like your body really doesn't like sugar and was really glad you were off it all that time.
That's the way my body is... really does not like sugar, even fruit. I feel so much better without it, I've decided I just have to treat sugar (and in my case, cheese) as though it was alcohol and I'm an alcoholic -- total abstinence.
I have substituted stevia for all sweets in my life. Still haven't come up with a really good ice cream recipe though, but I haven't had much time to work on it. Also I can't use dairy or any of the other typical ingredients in ice cream. Guess this will have to wait until next summer.
Best wishes,
Jan

Yes, I have read of your travails. I can only conclude that this is some offshoot of leaky gut. I am working heavily on the old mind with neurofeedback and I think
I am finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.
I think you ought to try it too.........

Hi Paul,
I've finally, through experimentation, discovered the cause of my digestive problems. Stress and overwork. Fortunately, I am reaching a point in the evolution of the book & publishing effort where I can ease off a bit... so my digestion is a lot better and I'm sleeping at night, too. I've also learned how to deepen my SR practice and am back to my faithful 2 times a day. I feel so much better.
However, I'm going to stick to an adapted diet, because I like the way I feel on it.
One of my clients today told of an acquaintence whose diet got more and more restricted... he figured out that it was stress causing the digestive problems.
Your neurofeedback will likely teach you how to relax more deeply. A good thing.
Best wishes,
Jan

I'm sure the high sugar content would also contribute to pimples (besides dairy). But if you read the link I provided for Purely Decadent, it states that it contains inulin which shouldn't affect your blood sugar too much. Ah, it's worth a try:-)

Jan...after a year of SR I saw only mild improvements
as I was working on the wrong part of my brain with the
wrong wavelength.
My belief is that the core of curing our illness is finding the core of our stress and how our minds
reacted to those events.
I also believe SR is only baby steps in the mind`s
ability to heal and plan to take greater strides in the
future by investigating NLP and EFT.

Thanks, PaulC.
Good example! Was it worth it? I have personally and professionally seen this many times.
Example: If you have seen how Karate` trainees toughen up the skin of their hands, you may begin to understand why those who daily eat refined carbohydrates normally do not have these kinds of symptoms whereas those who never eat them become so sensitive.
Hope this helps.

Hi Paulc,
I used to think the same thing. I did 8 years of psychotherapy working with the mind and the stress. It helped, but I still had all my physical symptoms.
It took doing the 3LS to really help my physical symptoms, plus taking nutritional supplements.
Actually, I advocate doing both: the mental/emotional work and the 3LS. This is why there is a whole chapter devoted to mental/emotional in our book about the 3LS.
My next step is going deeper with both the 3LS and with decreasing stress in my life. This part of the healing is getting very exciting because I am feeling so good now.
Everything you are doing sounds good. Keep trying things until you find what works for you.
Best wishes,
Jan

for those who don't do soy, there's a frozen dessert called Rice Dream. The Vanilla flavor and the carob almond have no sugar.
