Well, after over a year on the "PWFD" I had great success. I even lost over 80 pounds..I've been walking 4 miles a day and I "felt" great...UNTIL. Until I "treated" myself to some chocolate at a conference I attended back in June. Now I can't seem to get off it. I still eat well as far as my main meals are concerned, but it's the snacking. I am without a doubt addicted to sugar. It's no different than someone addicted to alcohol, for me at least.
My question is now that I've got the "craving" back for sugar, to kick this do I need to start over. Back when I started the PWFD I quit all sugars, including fruit, for the first two months. Then I stayed off all refined sugars, except fruit, the entire time...UNTIL. So, should I quit all fruit, etc and just "start over" to kick the sugar habit again?
Thanks for the help.

is your craving for sugar or for chocolate? They don't have to be the same thing. Chocolate cravings can be addressed with baking cocoa-either the powdered stuff stirred into hot cereal or blended into shakes, or the unsweetened blocks of baking chocolate-let a tiny shaving of it melt on your tongue.

My craving "seems" to be for sugar. I crave "Mister Goodbars" and Wendy's Frosties, I can't seem to stop. I feel I should just "cold turkey" again and quit fruit and all sugar, etc for about two months to get this out of my system. I do LOVE chocolate, but I seem to crave anything with sugar.

I've had the same thing happen and had to start completely over - NO sugar at all until the cravings stop.

Agreed, Flip.
Also did this (actually have to do it again as we speak!) and it is amazing how impossible it is to get your arms around it again!! Bummer that it's SO hard to do without starting at the beginning again.

Hi, Sugar.
Welcome to the human species! Nearly everyone I know, including myself, who has done the PWFD and noted how much it helps, has backslid eventually and had to start over agsin. I guess we just have to learn our lesson.
The only problem is that, as we age, each time it takes more effort, we have to be more perfect to get the same results and it takes longer.
I would suggest you get Beth Loiselle's book and buckle down. Let us know how long it takes this time and let us know how you do.

Hi labrat,
We certainly have this in common. For me it can start as something so innocent as a 100% fruit juice popsicle -- although I eat fruit, I VERY rarely drink juice. From that simple popsicle I can soon find myself justifying a snickers bar!

p.s. - My kids are always giving me a hard time for saying "bummer".

It is amazing how fast we fall!
So... "bummer" is blasé? I don't have any kids (by choice) and now as I'm getting older, I find that they'd come in handy to keep me current! LOL! I ask my nieces things now so I am not falling TOO far behind.

Hi Sugar Blues,
Going cold turkey again sure sounds like a good idea. You definitely know it works!
Best wishes,
Jan
