I want to quit sugar Dr. Stoll

How much sugar would you say a day is a decent amount? Other than sweets and refined sugar, is there sugar in any other foods? Could you name a few that are real bad? Can sugar effect the kidneys, gallbladder, appendix? Is 3 tsp of sugar a day to much? I have a tsp and a half in my coffee everyday. Thank you

Patricia,

There have been so many posts about sugar. Two books that come up at times are "Sugar Busters" and "How to Lick the Sugar Habit". I have read posts from many people who have eliminated sugar entirely from their diets, reaping healthful rewards. The list of conditions that have a link with sugar is lengthy and there are probably things it does that are not yet known. Aside from being bad for you in general, food sensitivities or food allergies can make it so much worse, therefore in keeping with a whole food diet plan as often suggested by Dr. Stoll, any refined sugar would be too much. For someone with candida even the sugar in fruits should be avoided. Read your labels and be wary of things ending in -ose (fructose, sucrose, etc.). The more prone someone is to allergy or sensitivity, the more likely intense withdrawal effects may occur.

Sugar addiction requires not a trace of sugar in your diet to conquer. I don't think its a stretch to say that sugar addiction is more and more common and that changing that is a good but sometimes very difficult committment.

You don't put much in your coffee, but you will find learning what's in all the stuff you are eating to be a very eye-opening experience. My 8 year old even reads labels with me now - shopping is more time-consuming. I do know of a 'site that I think is nancyappleton.com; and the link below is to prior posts about sugar.

Hi, Patricia.

The US government has known for more than 100 years that the RDA for sugar is ZERO. ANY sugar in the diet has the potential for reducing ideal health.

If you really want to find out how much refined carbohydrates are hurting YOUR health (See the homepage article.), all you have to do is be totally free of them for a month or so. You will begin to see benefits after about a week. Let us know what you learn.

Don't try this without Beth's book in your hand, and in your mind, since the slightest trace will obviate your experiment on yourself AND expose you to unnecessary withdrawal symptoms.
