To HY re: whole food supplements

Posted by lPeterson on August 08, 2002 at 00:31:39:

Hi again,I forgot to say that my reason for asking is I'm wondering how New Chapter compares to Perfect Food. I was thinking of starting Perfect Food but if New Chapter is just as good, it's easier just to get it from my local health food store. Thanks.

In my experience, New Chapter doesn't come even close to what's in Perfect Food. many people have reactions to the yeast in the New Chapter. New chapter products DO contain whole foods just not as many nor as concentrated as Garden Of Life. Believe me, if a company came along tomorrow that put out better products than GOL, I would support them from day one! So far, I have seen nothing better. It doesn't mean that the New Chapter won't work for you. I am just telling you my opinion of comparing them-HY-H

Just started taking Perfect Foods yesterday. ....

and it tastes horrible. I could barely get it down. Reminds me of the seaweedy taste of chlorella tablets. I hope it's an acquired taste. :-)

Try adding it to raw milk (if you can find any) with some stevia (They also sell it with stevia added, but I prefer it without.). Also you could make a smoothie with the milk or yogurt and some berries. Not bad at all. Or, another thought, if you like vegetable/tomato juice, you can add it to that. I personally don't mind the taste, but I can understand how you wouldn't like it. Probably the consistency bothers you more than anything. Hope this helps.

I'm suprised. Perfect Food is the best-tasting, easily awallowed greenfood on the market. I know because I have tried every one and I HATE THEM! Fortunately for you, Perfect Food comes in CAPLETS that can be taken. There is no gelatin. The powder is compressed using a no-heat processing technique. If you try to break the caplets apart, they turn to dust in your hand. Try those.

Thanks, I'll trying mixing it with some of the things you mentioned.

Actually its the smell I don't like. If I hold my breath while drinking it, I'm ok. The consistency is fine. Actually I'm reasonably tolerant of yucky tasting stuff, but not this stuff for some reason.

Thanks. The caplets are more $$$ though.

For half the price of the caplets, maybe the powder doesn't taste all THAT bad. :-)

You're right, they are the same price, but....
(from the Garden of Life site)

150 caplets X 1000 mg = 150 g
vs. powder 300 g

both are $31.50 I think.

one bottle of either product is a 30-day supply with the same nutritional equivilant. It must be a mistake.
