What can we do to help prevent flu? I was made very ill by the flu shot I had several years ago and have never fully recovered. I have multiple allergies and it seems most vitamins/minerals make me worse. Is Olive Leaf Extract a good preventive? thanks.

Can you take Ester C? I don't think you can be allergic to vitamins, and certainly not to minerals - you probably need to find a better quality one with fewer ingredients than you have been trying. THe drugstore brands can have a lot of added ingredients and you are probably reacting to one or more of those igredients.
Aside from supplements, eat a whole foods diet, drink pure water and get enough rest. Doing "wellness" as promoted on this website (exercise, diet and skilled relaxation) will keep you healthy.

Labrat has some great sugestions; You also want to keep your p.h. acid alkaline balance in your body in balance. So eating all those veggies will benifit that. Zinc is also very benificial to make sure you have enough of. I really like the way Wild Oregano Oil or Capsuals work for keeping any infection at bay.

Don't forget what Walt says about increasing the humidity in your winter environment. A cheap cold water atomizer running in your bedroom during the night will work wonders. Heated air (furnace, fireplace) is much drier than that found in desert environments. Keep your mucus diluted and your stomach acid will do wonders to take care of bugs you pick up from the air we all breath. To reiterate, drink lots of water and humidify the air in your indoor environment. That alone will win more than half the battle with very little effort on your part.

You can be very much allergic to vitamins and minerals.

I think you are wrong. My understanding is that you need to have a protein present to set off an allergic reaction. Minerals don't have proteins.
My point is that you may have an allergy (or a sensitivity, which is different) to one or more of the INGREDIENTS in that supplement you are taking, not the vitamin or mineral itself. We need vitamins to live, so it would be certain death if we were allergic to them.
I hope the good doctor will weigh in on this and clear it up for us.

Thanks, labrat.
You are right. Everyone who is hypersensitive to any vitamin or mineral would be dead. However the average supplement product out there has about 35 things in it that are not listed on the lable: binders, colorings, preservatives, etc. ALL the allegies I have seen (to supplement products) are due to one of these "inert" substances (inert, according to the FDA which does not have a clue)!

I wasn't even considering the ingredients that AREN'T listed!
Sometimes I "know" something from all my reading and learning, but I don't know how to back it up, or for certain where I learned it. That makes it hard to substantiate! This was one of those cases. Thanks for confirming it, because I wasn't sure!
