Is this what HY would call a wholefoods supplement, beings it is concentrated fruits and vegetables? Also, what are phytochemicals?

I'm not 100% sure if Juice + is completely whole food but the nature of a product like that is supposed be geared towards whole foods.
Phytochemicals are the pigments that make fruits and vegetables their particular colors. Blue, red, orange, yellow, green,...these are all due to phytochemicals.

Phytochemicals are plant chemicals that may affect human health. There are hundreds of phytochemicals, and their exact role in promoting health is still uncertain. However, a growing body of evidence indicates that phytochemicals may help protect against cancer. They are vital to good health, but need to be ingested in the right balance with other nutrients to give the most protection and help the body to heal.
JuicePlus+ seems to be a good supplement, as far as it goes. My doctor recommends it to his patients, along with a multi-vitamin. Personally, I think there are more complete choices. But, in addition to a complete nutritional supplement, I do give JuicePlus+ Gummies to my kids as a healthy snack.

Cheezi,
You said that there are more complete choices out there. What do you think Juice+ is missing. My doctor is also recommending it so I was curious what you meant about it not being complete. Thanks.

Phytochemicals are only found in fruits and vegetables that
are vine ripened. Remember the grocery store is shipped
fruits and vegetables before they hit the phytochemical stage.
You should supplement your diet with natural vine ripened
foods. The best fruits and vegetables with the most
photochemicals are onions, garlic, broccoli, brussels
sprouts, kale, cabbage, cauliflower, tomatoes, carrots,
turnips, papaya and pineapple. I supplement my diet with
phytochemicals because it's hard to find vine ripened fruits
and veggies . Phytochemicals are very important to our
diet.I have a lot of info on phytochemicals. Send me an
e-mail if you would like to know more. Thanks, Leesa
I have some great info on Phytochemical if you would to like
so just e-mail me.

Don't forget berries, not only loaded with phytochemicals, but also the highest antioxidant food that planet Earth can offer.

Juice Plus is mentioned positively in a literature review by Alan Gaby, M.D., on page 25 of the Jan. 1997 Townsend Letter for Doctors & Patients.
"Fifteen healthy individuals were supplemented with dehydrated fruit and vegetable extracts (JuicePlus+TM). Each volunteer took two capsules of the fruit extract and two capsules of the vegetable extract daily for 28 days. After 28 days, plasma levels of antioxidants increased significantly relative to baseline: beta carotene 510%; alpha carotene 119%; lutein/zeaxanthin, 44%; lycoprene 2,046%; and alpha-tocopherol, 58%. Serum levels of lipid peroxides decreased fourfold after 7 days and remained significantly below baseline levels after 28 days."
"Antioxidants have multiple and synergistic interactions, and also exhibit compartmentalization and tissue-specific activity. Therefore, supplementation with large doses of a single antioxidant might not produce the same beneficial effects as supplementation with lower doses of a broad spectrum of antioxidants. The results of the present study indicate that it is possible to achieve marked increases in plasma antioxidant levels and to decrease oxidative stress by supplementing with extracts of dehydrated fruits and vegetables. Eating fresh fruits and vegetables would probably produce even better results, but JuicePlus+ seems to be a reasonable alternative when fresh fruits and vegetables are not available. It is refreshing to see a multi-level marketing company has finally subjected its product to some scientific testing."
Gaby then cites the specific article and journal where this was published: Curr Ther Res 1996;57:445-461

I guess what I mean is a full array of everything that the body needs on a daily basis for good health. Fruits and vegetables provide part of that, but there's more that's necessary. More vitamins (found in other foods), minerals, amino acids, proteins from other foods, digestive enzymes, etc. Even my doctor who recommends JuicePlus+ suggests a multivitamin to go along with it. That tells me that even he thinks it's not complete enough. And hydrating the cells so that the body can absorb the nutrition that you're putting in is a biggie.
